SARKOZY THREATENS TO PULL FRANCE OUT OF EURO. Fears over Greek bailout send shares and euro tumbling
The markets were initially unsettled by news that the French president had threatened to pull France out of the eurozone Share prices have dropped across Europe and the euro has slid to an 18-month low against the dollar on fears that the eurozone bailout of Greece will fail and reports that French president Nicolas Sarkozy threatened to pull his country out of the single currency altogether to force Germany to agree to the rescue plan. The panic selling has been stoked by news that Spain's underlying inflation rate turned negative in April for the first time on record, adding to fears that the country is facing a cash crunch................................... Next destination for the EU bus is FAIL. Sure looks like it... Question is, is it a good thing or a bad thing? (seems good on the face of it, but I don't know enough about European politics to say anything definitively...) |

teh utopia is failing
Didn't see that shit coming at all. When will the left learn? |
|
The real question I have is this: Lincoln fought a war to keep the United States intact - would the EU and other nations in the Union do the same?
Would France be ALLOWED to withdraw? Or is this just a monetary thing?

I hope this means the end of the Euro and that these countries go back to their individual currencies.

Economic depression Civil Unrest Rampant Nationalism Distrust of foreigners Racial/Ethnic Tension Anger over bailing out others Yep, looks good from here... Who plays Franz Ferdinand in this one? |

I'm not 100% squared away on how the EU works with matters such as this. |

You mean pantywaist Europeans can't play nice with one another? Shocking!

All these years now the Libs have been crying for the US to be " More like Europe "
What a bunch of morons |
|
I think the last thing France should do is piss off Germany...again!

This is nothing before Crime Inc. is through redistributing America's economy most of the states will be pulling out.

Greece is going to default eventually and the Germans are going to be beyond pissed when Portugal etc. belly up to the trough. Merkel's party already took losses in one election over the bailout, losing their majority in one house of the legislature, trying to push another doomed loan is not going to go over well at all. Whether Sarkozy bails out or not I can't say, but the Germans are reaching their limit politically.

So, who thinks this could lead to a conflict down the road? The coming war will be necessary to reset sovereign debt. Count on it. TXL |

Next destination for the EU bus is FAIL. It couldn't have happened to a nicer bunch. How does anyone take a Europroponent seriously at this point? There was so much FAIL in the design of the EU and the EMU from the get-go. Talk about a sterling example of the triumph of hope over experience. |

France and Germany are the only two large economies in Europe that are strong, they could also switch to a common currency between eachother and screw everyone else.
Lots of talk about Germany switching back to the Deutschemark. |

(seems good on the face of it, but I don't know enough about European politics to say anything definitively...) Good thing. The Euro has crippled the southern European economies and is holding back the northern European ones. Both German and Italy have done a consultation of recovering all their Euros, (they're all marked with a national letter code), with a view to a possible eject from the common currency. |

You mean pantywaist Europeans can't play nice with one another? Shocking! No they can't...one of the reasons they formed the EU. They have fought wars on their own soil within living memory and have a long history of it beyond that. They've burned themselves so many times that they've developed an irrational fear of using military force in ANY capacity because of this. The EU is really an attempt to make sure no more wars are fought on European soil. I don't see it being successful. |

They go to great lengths, for example, to be "open minded" towards the influx of islamic immigrants. That will last until Europe's patience is broken, and then the knives will come out. |

The Balkans showed how 'open minded' Europeans really are. 'Diversity' and 'multiculturalism' are Band-Aids trying to cover up what Europeans know they really are and really capable of. |
