I’m in the process of getting the original link to this ad I copied and pasted, but in the meantime, check out this UNBELIEVABLE deal on a 1911. The gun itself is in the normal $800-$1,000 price range, but look at what comes with it! Glock owners eat your heart out.

600 rounds of .45 ACP ammo

After you take your new 1911 to the range and discover that it you’re getting a lot of malfunctions, the shop where you bought it will tell you that “everybody knows” you need to run at least 500 rounds of 230 grain FMJ through your 1911 before you can expect it to feed, fire and extract properly. So, we’re throwing in that 500 rounds plus another 100 for good measure.

$200 ammo store gift certificate

After you’ve run the obligatory 600 rounds of 230 grain FMJ, as is often the case, your 1911 may still not function as you hoped. This is when the shop you bought it from, the manufacturer and some others (like those who frequent online forums) will tell you that you simply haven’t found the ammo that your 1911 “likes.” You see, when you own a 1911, you learn very quickly that it doesn’t matter what type of ammo YOU happen to like. What’s important is what type of ammo the 1911 likes. Finding this out can be an extremely difficult and expensive endeavor, hence the gift certificate.

The Iron Forearm

After you’ve run the 500 rounds of 230 grain FMJ and have used up the gift certificate sampling every type of .45 ACP ammo available, your 1911 still may not function properly. This is when they will tell you that you’re “Limp Wristing” your weapon. “Limp Wristing” is a phenomena particular to normal healthy men who’ve just purchased an improperly functioning 1911. This is where the Iron Forearm comes in.

Dremel tool

After you’ve run the 500 rounds of 230 grain FMJ, have tried all types of .45 ACP ammo and have used the Iron Forearm to eliminate “Limp Wristing,” you’ll be told to get one of these and polish the feed ramp of your still-not-properly-functioning 1911. Don’t bother asking why the feed ramps don’t come that way to begin with.

Postage meter with $200 in postage

After you’ve run the 500 rounds of 230 grain FMJ, have tried all types of .45 ACP ammo, have used the Iron Forearm to eliminate “Limp Wristing” and have polished your feed ramps, you’ll need one of these for the multiple mailings back and forth to the manufacturer, because no matter what you’ve tried, your 1911 still doesn’t function properly.

Ye Ol Gunsmith - Jeb Stonewall Cobb-Stewartson

After you’ve run the 500 rounds of 230 grain FMJ, have tried all types of .45 ACP ammo, have used the Iron Forearm to eliminate “Limp Wristing,” have polished your feed ramps and have sent your weapon on several trips backs to the manufacturer, you’ll be told you need to find yourself a good gunsmith. Not just any gunsmith mind you, but one who is an “old-timer” and a pro with 1911s. This is when we’ll recommend good ol’ Jeb. We won’t foot the bill, as Jeb can get pretty expensive pretty quick, but we’ll be glad to put in the good word for ya.

15 round single stack mag

You will likely get tired of Glock owners asking you why you paid twice as much for a less reliable and less durable weapon that holds half as many rounds. One of these ought to shut them up. When they point at you and laugh and tell you that you look an idiot and that you won’t be able to carry your 1911 anywhere, just ignore them. They’re just jealous because you now have a sentimental classic that holds even more rounds than their “plastic turds.”

Rust maintenance and prevention supplies

When after only a short period of storage, your 1911 looks as if it’s been at the bottom of the Gulf of Mexico as opposed to in your safe, you’ll need this stuff.

Fail.

Limpwristing is the standard Glock excuse, which in reality is more likely to happen with a Glock than a 1911.

1.  My Glock 27 has yet to kaboom in my hand after umpteen thousands of rounds fired.

2.  My Springfield USGI 1911A1 is 106% trouble-free and reliable.

There's a Glock 23 in my pocket right now.

I have never had the type of issues you discribe.

I slapped one together out of parts laying around the garage and after an extractor change it worked just fine. Of course the casing hits you in the head but hell I only have about $100.00 in it.

Don't be hatin yo.

Uh, I don't think I've ever heard anyone say that 1911's suffer from "limp wristing." That is always a problem attributed to Glocks.

For example:

Out of two 1911's I have owned, only my GI Colt built in 1918 has never malfunctioned.
The other was a Kimber Custom II. POS never would run worth a shit, so I sold it.

The only malfunction I have had with my Glock 17 was due to a round of Wolf ammo that did not fully cycle the weapon.
My next automatic pistol will be either a G21 or a G20.

1911 owner here. Both my 1911's ran 100% out of the box, except for with one magazine. Now that the mag is gone I have yet to have an issue.

[Former Glock Owner] here.

You can keep the god-aweful trigger, Tapco accessories and "for the ladies" ergonomics.

With that said, there are plenty of manufacturers willing and able to rip off JMB's design for a quick buck.   Similarly to so many of the polymer-based pistols out there, many of them do not get it right.   It has nothing to do with the design (or the originials) and everything to do with the new(er) companies trying to replicate and sell their variants.

You don't blame Gaston's design for failures using Korean-made magazines (or ProMag, god forfbid) - same here.

I have to say, i've seen limpwristing. I have a 1911 that fires flawlessly (and didn't require 500 rounds or break in to do so) anytime i'm shooting it. I can hand it to a friend of mine, and it will misfeed every time it loads the next round. He'll struggle his way through half a mag, and i'll take it back and fire through the rest with zero problems. This has been consistent, and I can't think of anything that would cause the problem aside from him not holding the pistol correctly.

I own and carry a G19 every day.
I love 1911's though but they seem like overkill to me and thats a big gun to carry everyday.

Even the glock I have is big for carry, thinking about switching to a kel-tec.

I think the 1911 is a great combat (offensive) weapon, if i was going to war I would have one as a sidearm.

9mm is all i need for defense.

The Colt in the avatar has 97,000,000 rounds through it.  No problems.  Pure love.  Recently bought my first plastic weapon, a XDm in 9mm.  Great fun to shoot, no problems and it makes me happy.

Y'know.....for all the people saying "OMG MY 1911 is UNRELIABLE"......mine's always run 100% outta the box, with the exception of one round that was in the magazine weird due to operator error .

Many of the complaints I've seen on 1911s come from people who buy shit and expect it to be a Nighthawk Custom, don't maintain their firearm and expect it to hold up like the USS Missouri, use the absolute bottom-of-the-box ammo because they save twenty cents per box, don't train or practice with their firearms and expect to fire pinpoint lazers from their asses, and who think "concealed means concealed" is represented by the latest, whole-ammo-box-holding, thick plastic fantastic making such a print on them that it looks like they have a bizarre tumor.

Granted, different strokes for different folks, but I have yet to find a 1911 that wouldn't work right outta the box, unless the owner tried to monkey with it themselves to fix a problem that wasn't there to begin with.  I also have yet to find a Glock whose grip was designed with us "mere humans" in mind.
