From GoatBoy's network error post...
................
- Flush Your DNS
go to a command prompt (start, run, type "cmd") and type "ipconfig /flushdns"
- Renew your IP lease
go to a command prompt (start, run, type "cmd") and type "ipconfig /renew"
.......................
I did this... And ARFCOM is working much better now.
My problems started as soon as I upgraded to AVG 9 as well.
ETA: Go into AVG 9 and do the following...
- Click on the tools tab ––> click on Advanced settings

- Click on Web Shield (on the left hand side)

- Un-check Web Shield

- Click Apply then click Ok

- Close AVG and restart your browser
ETA-2: Found another thing that helped...
- Click on the tools tab ––> click on Advanced settings

- Click on Link Scanner (on the left hand side)

- Un-check Active Surf Shield

- Click Apply then click Ok

- Close AVG and restart your browser

ETA-3: FireFox users, there is a new version of FireFox avaiable.
- While in FireFox, Click on the Help tab ––> Check for Updates

ETA-4:

Some are having a hard time finding WebShield. I believe this is in paid version only.

The only problems I have relate to IE8.

Can't use Firefox.

Cleaned the dns and renewed

Still having bad arfcom issues with Firefox (latest update released today)

IE8 seems to be working better, but still trying to break arfcom with it

Safari was never a problem with arfcom or any other website, and have been using it almost exclusively for the past few days

FWIW,,,

Sorry for the off topic, but things were going really slow here so I downloaded Google Chrome based on some positive comments in a GD thread recently. This is fast as hell!

Google Chrome also tracks your every move

ETA: And Google works closely with Obama

I've heard a lot about people experiencing problems with FF and it getting very slow and bloated after a few months requiring a reinstall. Is this true? Have you experienced this?

Never happened with my FF. It could be that their internet is really slow that day and they blame it on FF.

Firefox installed and running great. I can't tell any speed difference between this and Chrome. Lots faster than IE8. No add ons or themes installed yet. I figure I'll pass on that for speed's sake...

The problem with the net these days is all these "add-ons" for browsers. Trying to develop a site is hard enough considering the number of browsers out there, but when you include security software and all their issues and browser mods, it's near impossible to resolve issues without telling someone to just turn everything that's garbage off. (Technically not all of it is garbage, but most is.
)

Glad it's working for you with Firefox.

+1 I put a ton of add-ons to my FF (script killer, flash blocker, etc). I finally uninstalled it because it was hard for me to navigate the interwebs. I like security, but I don't like so much that it hinders my ability to surf the web at the speed that I work at.

I have a friend who is big into the add-ons. I have a hard time using his computer to browse because

I have to keep telling it to allow basic stuff. It is very frustrating!

For the record, you don't have to do "cmd" first and run it from the prompt; you can just start->run and then the command.
