Over the weekend I rented a movie called “Septem8er Tapes.”

As I watched it, I was thinking it should have been called “Naive, Impulsive American Gets Stupid In Afghanistan.”

However, by the end of the movie I was thinking, “That was pretty decent.”

The story behind the movie is almost on the same level as the movie itself.

Check it out if you can find it.

It’s difficult to say more without leading to spoilers.  I think most guys here will like it.

I guess it depends on expectations.

Did you find yourself wondering if it was real?  Or was I particularly gullible this past weekend?

I thought it had the look of a real attempt at a documentary, up until the shooting in the cave at the end.

Dupe: Has anyone seen The September Tapes?

Saw it. Liked it. The facts about the making seem a little gray between the production notes and the commentary. They say that a lot of the scenes were filmed under the auspices of being a documentary, but in the "making of" movie on the DVD it seemed more like they staged a lot more of the scenes than what was led to believe.

Still, they were some brave cats to have gone where they went, when they went, being who they were.
