Windham,
Maine - Bushmaster Firearms International, LLC, (BFI) is proud to
announce its sponsorship of WEC Featherweight Champion, Mike Brown.
Mike will defend his championship title on June 7 at the Arco Arena in
Sacramento, California. The event will be broadcast on VERSUS at 9:00
p.m. EST. Currently ranked as the #1 featherweight fighter in the world, Brown who is a native of Portland, Maine, began his wrestling career at Bonny Eagle High School in Buxton and continued perfecting his wrestling skills at Norwich University. Brown now lives in Florida where he trains with some of the world's best athletes at the American Top Team Academy. "We are excited to sponsor Mike for his upcoming title defense," stated John DeSantis, President and General Manager of Bushmaster Firearms. "Mike's dedication to his sport and fans really got our attention. He is an enthusiastic new shooter and we look forward to working with Mike as he focuses on developing his shooting skills." Brown has had an interest in the shooting sports for years but lacked a mentor until BFI Sales Representative, Jarrod McDevitt, had a chance to take Mike to the range with a few Bushmaster rifles. McDevitt stated, "Once Mike fired that first shot with our rifle, he was hooked! He is a fierce competitor in the cage and I can tell you first hand he absolutely is one on the firing line as well. Mike now enjoys getting out to the range when he needs to relax." McDevitt continued, "I am thrilled that BFI is sponsoring Mike's WEC title defense and that we can work with him on the range." "This relationship is going to be so much fun," stated Brown. "I am excited about working with a Maine based company, especially a company as famous as Bushmaster Firearms!" How does this corporate expenditure help to make Bushmaster products competitive
from the standpoint of value to the consumer? |

I'll take Urijah Faber as he is a hometown boy and a good ole hippy who graduated from UC Davis. Product branding is what this is about and I applaud the manufactures who support MMA. I would encourage BFI to think along the lines of many X type sports to include MX/BMX/SURF/ etc.. The same folks who enjoy freedoms and self expression like the shooting sports. Just my .02....

It expands their their advertising market from fat guys on ARFCOM into a mainstream, up and coming, popular sport. The more ARs and other defense type weapons are seen as mainstream and normal, the better. Great move on Bushmasters part, very out of the box thinking. |

Urijah got caught with a puch as he spun around, and Mike capitalized on that error to win the belt. I feel that Mike as an accomplished fighter, but Urijah should be able to beat him...and I am pulling for the California Kid on this fight...

Mike won again but I'm sure instead of "Urijah just got caught, it wont happen again" it will now be "Urijah broke both of his hands on Mike's head; if he were 100%, he would have destroyed Brown".
I'm happy that Brown beat Faber again; it proves that he is a worthy champion and that it wasnt just a lucky punch the first time. I'm also glad that his Bushmaster sponsorship has introduced him to the shooting sports. There are a lot of firearms/knives/archery sponsors in MMA. I personally think that's pretty damn cool. I also agree that they should branch out to MX and other "extreme" sports. Alot of my shooting buddies are also dirtbike/atv owners/operators. |

I wanted Urijah to win as he is a class act but Mike Brown out classed him and deserves the belt. I salute Mike Brown and Bushmaster for both being winners!
