INSTRUCTOR BIO:
Dave
Harrington (a.k.a. "Super” Dave) is the President of Combatspeed LLC which is
located in Tampa, Florida. Dave is a two time retired senior weapons instructor
from the John F. Kennedy Special Warfare School at Ft. Bragg, North Carolina.
He has 23 years of military experience, the last 16 of which were spent in the
Army’s Special Forces. He qualified as an expert infantryman, conventional and
HALO (high altitude, low open) paratrooper, Ranger, and finally combat weapons
craft instructor at the John F. Kennedy Special Warfare Center at Fort Bragg,
N.C. Some of the nation’s most elite counter terrorist fighters trained under
Harrington there.
COURSE DESCRIPTION:
The Panteao Entry Level
Pistol Program is designed for those individuals that have already accepted the
responsibility of legal ownership of the semi-automatic pistol, and are ready
to continue their education in order to gain the necessary Confidence and
Ability to conduct themselves safely and professionally when using the pistol.
Topics Covered:
The topics to be covered in
the course will include (but not be limited to):
All aspects of Safe
ownership & use, Total mechanical familiarization and physical operation, the
principals of marksmanship, the fundamentals of marksmanship, both Dry &
Live Fire exercises in direct support of training material. Be prepared to take
notes!
Hardware:
You should have a
basic first aid kit to treat yourself for minor cuts, scratches etc. to include
a bottle of liquid tears / Visine for rinsing your eyes if needed.
Sunscreen and
hand sanitizer are recommended.
Have one pair of
certified ballistic Eye & Ear protection. EYE PROTECTION MUST PROVIDE
ADEQUATE COVERAGE OF YOUR EYES FROM THE SIDES. Prescription eyeglasses are
acceptable but you must make sure they are ballistic rated.
Electronic
hearing protection is recommended [but not mandatory], as it will allow you to
hear the instruction better than if you are wearing earplugs and/or
non-electronic hearing protection.
Have functional
clothing that allows for a full range of physical motion, appropriate footgear
and seasonal weather gear. Long pants
and long sleeve shirts are recommended, you can roll up the sleeves if
necessary.
Open toed shoes
are not acceptable nor are sandals - even if they have covered toes. They do not provide adequate protection from
shrapnel and hot brass.
Have a hat with a
bill or brim. Ball caps and boonie hats
are recommended.
Have a reliable
pistol of reputable manufacture with a minimum of 3 magazines.
Have a quality
holster and the appropriate number of magazine carriers.
Have the
appropriate maintenance equipment & lubrication.
You will need
1,000 rounds of ammunition over the course of the 2 days.
A pistol magazine
loader (like the Uplula) is strongly recommended.
