So I'm 20 and will be turning 21 in under a year (Finally!) and I was wanting to have everything  ready to go for my 21st birthday. I live in Ohio and I know that you can take the course before 21 if the instructor allows it. However the only rule is someone 21 or over has to be with you to transport the firearm. Now the question is does the person that is 21 or older have to be a legal guardian or not. I have awhile until I actually want to take the class.

Some instructors have loaner pistols, might be something to check into, if your state law is so severe that you can't even transport a handgun to a training class.

Compared to say Indiana, where you can get a permit and carry open or concealed at 18.
