Im interested in taking a class on long range shooting starting with the basics. Is anyone aware of any classes given in New England or am I looking at driving to attend something. Any input would be appreciated.

You really should check out Sig Sauer Academy. they have a 3 day intro a 2 day advanced and a 1 day expert 1000yd class. Theyre in Epping, NH right next to the main SIg manufacturing facility

We train a lot of shooters from upstate NY, CT, MA.

Our April course is overbooked but we are running it again for sure in the fall, and perhaps in the summertime as well since the ammo situation has improved, and we are getting a lot of inquiries.

Full details, range pics, and a course breakdown:

http://bhtcorps.com

The initial/intermediate course is ground-up and includes trajectory/exterior ballistics, rifle fitment, BRM (basic rifle marksmanship), ballistic calculator exercises, range estimation and live fire from 100 to 1050Y including a full darkness night shoot with illuminated targets.   Final course exercise is the USMC Scout/Sniper UKD Qualification test.   Not speaking about the course itself, but the range is 50BMG friendly so students can bring a big gun secondarily if they have one and collect dope with it during rec fire/practice time.

Bunkhouse on-site and home cooked breakfast/lunch are available too.

In my experience, the 2 day advanced was a waste - as the instructor wasn't teaching/giving corrections, just gave a short lecture and we headed out shooting. When we were at the 100 yard line, he was busy breaking in a Sig .50 rifle instead of watching us shoot. The 1 day isn't a "class" at all, just a range day where you pay them $300 for the privilege to use the 1000 yard range. Haven't taken the 3 day class.
