THE IMAGE ABOVE IS A PAID ADVERTISEMENT Full information and online registration: http://bhtcorps.com/2DayPrecision0518-19.html May 18-19 (Fri-Sat) 2012 Mifflin County Sportsmen's Association, Lewistown PA (lodging and breakfast/lunch in the clubhouse are available) Distances: Zero distance to 1025 Yards. The course is an extremely detailed look at important aspects of long distance precision shooting. It includes blocks of instruction on: fitting equipment to you, ballistics, trajectory, BRM, Using a MIL or MOA reticle, range estimation, and how to record and benefit from prior engagement data. There is online pre-course assignment work, classroom study, and instructed live fire exercises. 75 rounds minimum per day. Students will fire from zero distance out to 1025 Yards. Full darkness night fire exercises are also conducted as a taste of what is covered in more advanced courses. Students will also have the opportunity to take the Army or USMC Sniper School Unknown Distance test to see how they stack up. We conduct this course from a "teach a man to fish" mindset. Although we will have every student hitting at a thousand yards by the end of this course, that really isn't our goal. We want to equip you with as full of an understanding as possible of what is involved in each aspect of making those hits, so you can return to do it again and again, on your own. We all meet at a local place for dinner Thursday to get to know one another. This is a great time. Thanks, and please contact us if you have any questions about the course, gear or the facility. Not at this time. LE, and experienced/proven long range tactical competitive shooters.
We do put ourselves out there and prove it on a regular basis. ––Fargo007 |

I am interested in this class, as I have been through handgun and patrol rifle classes, NRA instructor and other but never a precision class. What is the gear requirement? Is there a minimum caliber? I see you say you'll have everyone hitting 1000 yds by the end of class so... I am thinking no 5.56? Next open class scheduled at the end of Sept. ?

Hi, You would need an accurate (under 1MOA) precision rifle and appropriate ammo to shoot long range. Typically a .308 bolt action rifle is best to start with, along with match ammunition from Federal or Black Hills, or handloaded ammo if you are able to do that. We also highly recommend a quality rifle scope. There are reco's on our site on scopes that we have seen perform well. I would not recommend a .223 for this course. Much higher degree of difficulty to shoot that, and it hits so light at long range that observing the impacts will be challenging. Yes, the May course is overbooked, but the next open course is the end of September. It will be the same two day course with night fire included. We are working out a solution that involves luminescent paint and blacklights. Thanks for the interest. The course registration should open up about 2-3 months prior, and it will be posted on our site as well as the PA HTF, here and other boards too. ––Fargo007 |
