Add in a side argument about Lasix, and I'm good for a few rounds.

Once my iPad recharges, I'll try to start a thread of useful links. To legit sources of peer reviewed/acceptable stuff, not "Zika isn't killing us. It's Monsanto and their evil larvicide" pages.

i am going to prepare some pics and do a thread on something basic that any shooter in the forum might find useful

But I think we should also have some advanced discussions for the medical/nursing/ems people as well.
It's late.  Back tomorrow, sir.

I started a thread for all the people who we find in GD asking about nurse anesthesia school.

Maybe one of the docs could, start one for future physicians to sk their questions

ALBUMIN!  And BICARB!!11

I dunno how old you are, but when I started this gig, Bicarb was first on the list for CPR.
We were told we had to "prepare the myocardium for defibrillation".
Of course, what we were really doing was preparing the myocardium for embalming.
So much of what I learned in school we now know was utter crap.

My kid loves watching Emergency and I'm amazed how far we have come in four decades.  Hell, how far we have come since I started 20 years ago is incredible.

Remember the 400-joule defibrillators?

Buncha young whippersnappers and their biphasic lightning boxes. I used to do cardiac cases with intentional 60hz fibrillation as a routine preference of one surgeon.

All the new drug ads say, "Ask your doctor if _______ is right for you." Those of us that finished training long before some of those drugs often have to hit Google and Epocrates.

I actually disgust myself.  Where I trained, we rarely broke out albumin
We routinely gave 6-8 liters of LR
3 liters was just to catch up
(NPO Time, bowel prep and " they're already dry" )

My current employer is not cost conscious so I give a feel,of crystalloid and also albumin.
Sorry for being wasteful, Dr. Watson ( my old chairman) , you taught me better.
