The second day of Circle The Wagons included some of the most interesting and challenging courses…Carbine 2-Buddy Drills and Pistol 2-Room Clearing.
Carbine 2 – Buddy Drill, was setup over the entire 200 yard range. It was an exercise where a two-person team would be on a mock patrol. The instructor called ‘threat’ and the pair would go prone to engage the enemy. One team mate would then move to the first barricade and provide cover fire as the other would move to his/her barricade. This continued until the team met at the final barricade or the ‘intended’ casualty got there first. At that point, the RTG instructor tagged the victim with one or more injuries. It was up to the other buddy to sufficiently treat those wounds, under stress, all while engaging the enemy and protecting their position. It was intense and challenging. Prior training and level of fitness definitely shined through as we ran this course with full kit and body armor.
