Even though this was my first carbine class, I had been shooting competitively in 2 gun matches beforehand so I did have some knowledge going into the class, however I knew that really didn't mean I knew a whole lot. The class itself beat my expectations by a mile. I went in knowing I was going to learn a few things, but came out with a whole new mind set of what it means to carry a gun. I am currently trying to get into Law Enforcement, and I know one day a gun is going to be my best friend every day.

This Combat Carbine class took me well out of my comfort zone, since I had normally only shot between 25 and 50 yards at the FOP range and during the CFDCC matches. However, the first trigger time we got in the class was from the 50 and back to the 100 yard mark. By the end of the first day, we were shooting at 200 and 250 yards. One of my favorite drills we did was called the walk back drill. I don't want to spoil it if you've never heard of it, but the first time we did it, we made it back to the 375 yard mark, STANDING unsupported. And the second day I believe we made it back to roughly the 450 yard mark supported. Getting to reach out at that distance with my rifle was amazing. The atmosphere that Don set in the class even made the class that much better. In between drills, we would shoot the shit and give each other a hard time, but all in fun.

We also did a lot of drills within the 25, including multiple target engagements and transitions to handguns. In addition, we practiced engaging multiple targets from behind cover from 25-100 yard mark and transitioning into shooting positions, whether, prone, kneeling, or sitting. Don covered everything.

Rifle malfunctions were also covered in depth, and I now feel confident that if I ever find myself in my near future Law Enforcement career with a rifle malfunction, I can clear it and get back into the fight. We even had some unintentional malfunctions of our own, so it made the learning experience even better.

I really can say I have taken way more away from this class than I had expected coming in, and would HIGHLY recommend it to ANYONE looking to further improve their carbine fundamentals and who doesn't mind getting a little dirt on their gear.

Seriously, check them out... Don is MORE than qualified and knows the real shit. I wouldn't want to learn from anyone else and will definitely be taking more of this classes.
