All the rage about  1,000 Lumens or 5,000 Lumens or pick your preferred supercharged lightsaber  which, don't get me wrong I love em too..but.. What does anyone know about a good Very Low output, very long run time flashlight?  You know one I could use covertly to navigate in the dark, unfamiliar areas, with minimal visible signature especially viewed from the sides? Equipment and or any other ideas??  (I know all about light filters - that's Not what I'm looking for info on)

CDNN sent me something like this
http://www.amazon.com/Carson-Optical-LED-Flashlight-Red/dp/B000WG0LPQ
as a gift along with some stuff I ordered from them years back and I use it all the time at night mostly to look for something in the truck or in my pack without giving our position away. Mine is a little different then the one on Amazon and says, “Browning” on it. It’s cheap and may be a little small to navigate with so something like these are probably more of what you’re looking for.

Be advised, people can see your red light from a distance but not nearly as easy as white light.
