So I did my first USPSA match Tuesday night. First thought: This is a shit ton of fun. Why have I not been doing this for years?!?!

I think I did OK although I need to work on long range shooting for sure. First three stages did really well. Last stage though was either long or one handed and it bit me. Missed 9 of 12 shots on the 35yd target (Freestyle). Missed 7 of 12 on the 15yd (One handed, 6 dominate/ 6 weak). A couple of dumb mistakes winging a no-shoot too. Overall though a lot of fun.

Right?  I kick myself for not getting into it sooner.

Glad you enjoyed it.

I'd bet your shooting improves more over than next year than all the years prior. USPSA does that.

Start working on marksmanship first and you will eliminate the misses. Pulling a trigger fast and staying on target is a great skill to have to be good in USPSA. I have yet to master this myself but am way better than when I started.

So I just got the Dry Fire Training book and a set of small 1/6th targets to go through the exercises in my basement. Soon I will begin his program in the book (30min a night etc).

Yeah that was glaringly obvious with that last stage. I think some of my fundamentals are off enough to not matter in close but are clearly defined once the distance extends.

OK, second match completed. Two more signed up for too. Man, this is addicting.

Overall I did better but still need improvement. My long shots on small poppers is getting a lot better, hell long shots overall. Overall though happy with the improvement.

On a side note: The only thing I have done to my G19 was install TTI sights. I had only used them indoors and they were OK. Outside though, wow, these are awesome outside.
