Well, I have finally given in and put in an order for a Gold Team in .38 Super. This thread will document my getting the gun up and running.

My personal history has been mostly Production and Limited USPSA, bowling pins, and 3 Gun. I always liked the speed and accuracy shooting pins with my Red Dot equiped Mark II. I have been rather mediocre in handgun shooting otherwise (D Class in Limited). I tried to figure out cheap ways to get into Open, but finally decided screw it, do it right the first time! Really wanted a Czechmate cause I love my CZs, but they're a bit too rich for my wallet right now.

So, back to the Gold. I'm looking over C-More sights and mounts for it now. I will also need to develop a load for it as well. (I almost went with one in 9mm just cause that's what I've been shooting, but I figure if you're going Open, might as well go Major as well.)

Any other Gold owners in here? And of course, I could use all the .38 Super advice and/or Open Tips and Tricks as well.

Picked up the gun this morning. It is sexy! Feels a lot like my CZSP01 in the hand. Trigger is pretty nice, like the wide thumb safety, and the extended mag release.

Was debating on what type of mount to get, either the old top mount, or the new fangled side mount. But, I found this one from Double Alpha.

It comes with the blast shield, thumb rest and the new Kickstand. And, is only $140! So, that was an easy decision.

9mm can be loadded to major PF.

Good luck with your CZ. I know you can purchase the Barry Mount for the CZ I would sugest either a Barry mount or Matts mount as both get the dot down low. This makes going from irons to dots real easy.

Small update:

I ordered a Safariland 014 Holster, along with a ELS kit, and the inner and outer belts, and an open face mag pouch with ELS kit on it. All on the way from Safariland, who apparently do take their 'orders processed in 2-3 weeks' bit seriously.

Have a Grey C-More and the Double Alpha 3-in-1 mount on the way from Speed Shooters International. Had to wait on the mount to come from Europe, hope to have it by the weekend.

Worked up some test loads using 130 grain bullets and Power Pistol and Blue Dot powder. I'm going to start with Minor, and work into Major later on.

And I just ordered a 24 round mag from Henning. I'll probably pick up a couple factory 18 rnd mags from CDNN and build them into 24 rounders later on.

Still haven't shot the gun, waiting on the optics, but look forward to it!

Finally got everything together, and have the gun ready to go! Took it out a weekend or two ago to run the test ammo through it and the results were fantastic! Shoots incredibly well, accurate, and it seems to like PowerPistol. No malfs of any kind. Been practicing draws and dry fire drills with the Safariland rig, and that is also some very nice equipment! I'm planning on shooting it at a match in September.

Couple of Pics:

Great looking gun! What is the model of the Safariland? Did you need to get a unique holster due to the square trigger? I just got a Gold Team also...

It's the new 014 Holster. Gun popped right in.

Do yourself a favor and get a couple mags from hennings. They rock!

I also just received a set of Double AA Racer mag pouches.

My first match, btw was great! Shot much quicker and more confidently than I did in Limited. It is so much easier to call shots with the Dot, at least for me!

Can you take a picture of the entire rig? I'd like to see the pouches with mags in them, as well as the holster and gun on the belt.
Which capacity mags did you get and what was the delivery time on them?

TIA,
Adrian

I'll get a couple pics of the whole deal this weekend.

Mags came within a couple days of ordering them. They are 22 rnd capacity, cost 90 bucks for .38 Super.

I'll get some reload data posted up soon. Currently I have a nice 130gr Minor load with Power Pistol. Over the winter, I'll be developing a couple Major loads, one with PP, the other with a different powder I heard about, and maybe a 160 gr load if I can find a reliable source for the bullets.

Not a great pic, but here's the V12/two-chamber hybrid comp:
