I'm curious which is the most common.

600 slow prone-AR Service Rifle

On shot 13 I dropped a 9.

Finished out with a 199-10.

Never done it.

Shooting on the Army Team it was an eye-opener listening to the kids (NCOs) bantering about their performances.

"How'd you shoot?"

"6X" or "12 Hawks" was a VERY abbreviated "100 with 6 Xs" or "200 with 12 Xs."

I think the best I've done is 13Xs at 200 rapid on my backside.  My first clean ever was at 200 with 5Xs at my second or third Nationals at Perry.

300 yd Rapid Prone. Then, the 200 yd SR target was used for 300 RP. ALL my shots were on the right side of the black. Didn't clean 200 for another 2 years.

By far the most common stage of fire for cleans is the 200RF, followed by the 300RF, followed by the 600SF, *sometimes* followed by the 200SF. I have seen the latter two done backwards for real good standing shooters but guys who are slow at the 600SF and not great on wind calls during string firing.

My first 200RF clean I think I shot a 200-8X. Went from shooting an old non-floated Colt HBAR to a new RRA NM A2 - what a difference that was! I thought at the time that I had the best gun on the line! With that same rifle I shot my first 300RF clean a bit later. I want to say it was a 100-3 or 4X. Years later I shot my first clean 600SF with a 200-10X, and finally shot a 100-5X at the 200SF two years after. It was all in that order, and largely due to difficulty mixed with time spent shooting those stages every day.

No cleans in competition, but I can clean the 200 yard target with 100-10X while prone.  That gives me confidence that my rifle and ammo are up to the job.  When I do clean, it'll be rapid prone.  My personal record is 98-4X.

The SR1 in the sitting, rapid fire stage is the easiest target we shoot at. I'd say 9 of 10 will say that is the one they cleaned first.

Think about it: when shooting offhand, you pretty much know when you've executed a good shot. You can say "That was a X" or "wide right 10". You know what it takes to shoot a good shot on your feet.
Now, for the next stage, you are in a solid sitting position, using a sling for support, with plenty of time, on the same target. There's no real reason to shoot anything but 10's and X's.

For me, it's a huge pulse bounce that's 8-ring wide and moves between 11 o'clock and 5 o'clock. I'm pretty sure it's from my stomach.  So far, the best I can manage sitting is mid 90s.

Yep. I used to be that tall. On a warm day, my bounce is about X to top of 9. What seemed to help me was loosening the sling a couple inches (compared to prone) so the rifle moved outward, more inline with my body. That made me less cramped. Then I moved my support hand back to take up a little of the slack to regain elevation. Went 95s to 98s.

Still haven't done it yet. Couple of 99's at 200, but that's it.

Came close with both the Garand and Springfield match with a 99 in the prone rapid also at local matches.

200 sitting, then 300 prone. Done both a few times.
Best standing was a 195, with an M1A, best 600 was 197, also M1A.

Noice. Wind conditions?
View Quote
The wind was typically coming from the right rear at 4 MH (ie, 7 o'clock or half-value), with let-offs, and the occasional switch. I chose to shoot only when the wind was at 7 o'clock. My wind clock for 77s said that condition should have been worth 1.5 to 2 minutes, but I let the first sighter fly without a correction. It was an 8 at 1:30, so I came down 1 MOA and left 1 MOA. The second shot was a 10, fairly close to the X-ring and a little right. Remembering advice about shooting in wind with left offs, I decided to leave it there, figuring if the wind died a little, I'd still hit 10s on the other side.  It worked.

ETA:  Almost did it again on Friday, during an EIC.  During the second string from 600, I was eight shots in and then realized I was about to clean it.  Bam!  A nine.   Finished with a 99-4X.

My first was at 200 during the FFC Atlantic during the EiC match in 2010 it think.  The second was the same year During the All Navy East.  My first clean at 300 was during the 300 rapid at the Inaugural EiC match at Talladega.  The same weekend I placed either 16 or 17 in the Garand Match shooting  a 98 in the rapids with a Garand.

Good weekend for belly shooting.  Only dropped two points on the back half of an 80-round match.  The 600 table is 300 yard reduced.
