This year I will be shooting my second Presidents 100 pistol match. I also want to shoot the warm-up on the 10th. But I am unable to find times or registration materials on the CMP website.

Can I regster the day of the competition?

What time should I arrive at Camp Perry for those events?

Thanks.

Also, I just got my gun back from the smith on the 3rd (after several months of waiting) so I don't have a lot of time to prepare. Anyone have any technique advice? Do you put your left hand behind your back, in your pocket, what? Do you adjust your sights to be below the bull or in the center of it? Any advice would be appreciated. I have a lot to figure out in ten days.

So I attended the warm-up match and boy do I suck. I am consolled by the fact that the top shooter last year has 26 years of competitive shooting under his belt while I am on my second year but damn! Hitting an eight inch bullseye at half a football field is hard. I hit the damned target support twice. Sunday is the actual match - I've been doing a lot of dry-firing - I'd just like to break 200 this time around. It's such a different shooting discipline than I am used to. Again, if there are any hardball shooters here with advice to share I'd love to hear it.

Yes you may. And I intend to try and find more local shooting opportunities. No reason not to do Camp Perry though, is there? I'm only about 45 minutes away. It surprises me every time I go that more people aren't there. At the very least I'm supporting the sport. Do you shoot hardball? Any practical advice to offer?

I agree 100%. As long as you don't do something to screw up other competitors, I can't see a problem either.

I am shooting the presidents rifle match in a couple weeks. it is my first real rifle match beyond the small arms firing school that I have taken the past three years. Should be alot of fun. I fully expect to place in the bottom five percent. Gotta start somewhere and Perry is only an hour away.
