You should consider the number of courses your bbl can go without cleaning as one issue, and the cleaning and lubrication of the bolt carrier group another.
You can test your plan on less important occasions or practice sessions, then know for sure you can stretch that far at Perry. You can and should be able to lube the bolt group without adverse effects on your bbl or point of aim. Just make sure you test your plan ahead of time. Some bbls will make the distance and others won't. The only way to know is to try. |

P100 + NTI is only 80rds. Hearst another 30 and NTT another 50. I see no reason to clean between matches. I shot 99 at 600 in Hearst (after 120 rounds including practice), so I don't think it hurts anything. I shoot Molyed bullets, so your milage may varry. I put a few drops of CLP in to the carrier holes after every day of shooting and don't touch the barrel.

Sir, FWIW I've been in the habit of cleaning my rifle after every use for many years, just something I've always done. Camp Perry is no different, I clean my rifle every day. Yes, I use moly coated bullets also. 7zero1 out. |

Some folk choose to clean between matches, some (especially those shooting CMP Trophy Match week) choose to just clean and lube the bolt and carrier group daily.
Derrick Martin of Accuracy Speaks in Arizona went a whole season without cleaning his rifle to prove it can be done. |

Thanks for the replies. Sounds like it's a "to each their own", and doesn't really sound like accuracy falls off. I like the idea of cleaning the bolt after each match, I hadn't thought of that but will definitely be doing that (at the minimum) this year.

If so, about how many rounds do you average to be happy after a cleaning and which bbl do you like? |
