THE IMAGE ABOVE IS A PAID ADVERTISEMENT I don't plan on shooting any serious matches with it, so I really don't need a RRA NM, and was thinking about their standard AR. Does anyone have one? How do they shoot? What kind of groups are you getting out to 600 yds? From what I can tell from their website, the standard is capable of 1 moa while the NM is .75moa capable, the NM has a free float handguard while the standard does not, the standard's barrel is a 1:9 instead of 1:8, anything major thing I'm missing? |

I have shot the RRA NMA2 rifles that the Navy issues for matches. I will get a RRA NMA4. The rifles are great. They have the ability to shoot the X ring all day long out to 600.
The advantage that I see to the NM guns is accuracy. The 1:8 twist gives a bit better performance with the heavier 77gr bullets that you will shoot 600yds. The hooded aperture and thinner front sight post help with a better sight picture. The heavy, cryo treated, barrel will shoot accurately for a long, long time. Since it is free-floated, you can put a lot of sling pressure on without deflection. Don't forget to buy some weights. It will help minimize wobble in the offhand, especially if you are used to an M1A. I would recommend the A4. You have the ability to easily switch your sights that way. You can have carry handles with different apertures, or an optic. I have not heard of any issues of the A4 handle causing any kind of accuracy problems. I know that you can screw out the apertures and mount optics on an A2, it is just more work and small parts to track. Just a thought. |

No, you're not missing anything. I had a RRA A2 upper with a 1/9 twist without a flash suppressor. Got it during the Clinton ban. It was pretty accurate. Get one, you won't be disappointed.

If you plan on shooting at 600, yes you will be missing out with that 1x9 twist. You won't be able to shoot any of the heavier bullets. Some say you can shoot a 75gr with a 1x9. You will also suffer from a moving zero. When you go down to shoot slow-prone without a float tube you are going to flex that barrel.. then again, you have been shooting an M1A so you are probably used to that already. You will also likely suffer from the sites. They will probably not be 1/2 MOA clicks. I can't remember what the stock ones are. 1 MOA elivation? Frank |

That's easily changed. Marty |

I just got the RR NM A2 a few weeks ago. All I can say is the accuracy is amazing. It shoots better than my Hart barreled precision AR. Only thing I added was a SR Micro Sight and a Geissele NM trigger.

I have a RRA NM A4. The accuracy is better than I ever expected. I've not shot the standard rifle however if RRA says it will group under 1 MOA, I"m sure it will.
