THE IMAGE ABOVE IS A PAID ADVERTISEMENT I'm going to get into 3-gun and was wondering if a gas piston upper is good for 3-gun or is there any difference? A few sites are selling a complete Adams Arms Upper for $610 shipped. That seems like a decent deal to me but I'm fairly new into AR platform. I would like a free float and railed handguard so I can mount a grip. If I wanted to add a free float handgaurd with rails, where should a look for a somewhat budget model? I can sell my AR for around $850 so that is my budget for an AR. I'm not sure what I can sell the upper for as I dont know the model. I've shot about 200rds and the previous shot about 100 through it. No problems or malfunctions. Thanks! Go Heat!! |

If you check out the 3 gun section under training you'll find topics where people are posting their 3 gun setups. I think most are 18" or so non railed free float guns, geissele has their S3G trigger. Gas impingement is probably the way to go, but it's really up to you. If you like rails and whatnot they'll work too. Practice with your setup and I'm sure you'll be fine. Just stay away from cheapo stuff.

Gas impingement = less recoil and more accurate.
DPMS for a cheap and effective free float tube. you can drill and tap it for sling stubs or whatever you wish to add. I skip on any vfg, but that's just me. your 16" will work just fine. I would add the DPMS free float tube rifle length and a DPMS Jerry Miculek brake. this set up will be good for years until you save enough for a better build or decide the sport is not for you. Triggers I love the JP original trigger. Scope look at a buris 1-4x taco 30 and a RRA mount. |
