Hi All,

I have decided to obtain quality instruction in self-defense using a handgun (About time too!)  I realize there are a number of very capable instructors but I would like to find out who you guys feel are the "best. I plan to seek instruction from basic to the most advanced levels, eventually.  Also, anything in/around the Southeast would be great but not totally critical.
Sorry for the "noob" question!

If you're in Alabama you should go train with Frank Proctor.

Don't forget Roger's Shooting School in Ellijay, GA.  One of his former chief instructors is available for individual shooting lessons in the Atlanta area, look up Claude Werner on FaceBook, he blogs at http://tacticalprofessor.wordpress.com/

In the last Kyle Lamb class that I took, we shot about 800 pistol rounds before lunch. His classes are pretty dang good.

Despite his personality, which turns some people off, Larry Vickers knows his stuff around handguns too.

If I can ever find time, I want to take a Pat Mcnamara class.

Super Dave Harrington.  He's from FL, but does travel to teach.

Hi, I'm new to this forum and came across this post.  I've attended several firearms training classes from various instructors, but when money is tight finding quality instruction that won't break the bank can be tough.  I met some guys at the last Denver, Colorado Tanner Gun Show from edit.com.

YMMV. Frank can shoot incredibly well and he's a very nice guy but I found his course to be lacking. He was not able to communicate what he was trying to teach. My class ended up more like a guided range day than anything else.

Maybe I just got a bad weekend...
