How many rounds of ammunition does a navy seal trainee fire during the land warfare phase of bud/s. It doesn't need to be an exact answer just a generalized range. I had this question phrased another way, this one is more specific.

My understanding is there are various trainings, official courses and continuing. and not everybody gets everything so there's no pat answer for that question.

OK well in general how many rounds can a member of a special forces group expect to fire during training? if' there isn't any one answer than "examples" (for lack of a better word) will be fine.

87.  Then a police call after they don their reflective belts and put on a kevlar.

You won't get an answer because no set answer exists.  They don't have set numbers.   Say a group comes in and a civilian class is available that next weekend,  they go,  they shoot,  they go home.  The next group comes in,  that class isn't available,  but a bored sgt thinks they need to do malfunction drills one day,  so they take 1k rounds each and hit the range. A half to a third of rounds in malfunction drills can hit the ground, damaged beyond firing condition.

The closest answer is "a lot". It's going to be tens of thousands id guess.

You're not going to get any sort of legitimate answer because there are so many differing variables.  A better answer would be : a lot.  I sincerely doubt there is any hard number you're going to receive.

ETA:  I see I was beat to the punch.

That's not the question. The question is, how many rounds does a crew chief on a blackhawk in the 160th shoot for one qualification on the M134. I can't remember the exact number the guy I talked to shot, but I remember it was more 7.62 Nato than my entire infantry battalion was allotted for the battalion live fire.

I believe Dick Couch mentioned in one of his books that an SQT class would go though ~250k rounds of 5.56 during certain week long training evolutions among many other calibers/grenades/rockets etc.

Read The Warrior Elite, and The Finishing School.  There is a fairly good breakdown in both.

As many as it takes to satisfy the instructors.

SEAL Instructors have a lot of leeway.  Go watch the interview of the SEAL who killed UBL and he says that they had to repeat a 5 miles swim, which cancelled a dive physics class they had scheduled.  Sounds to me that BUDS isn't your typical military rigid thing where if you don't stick to the Plan of the Day heads explode, but rather there is a trust that the trainers are going to do what it takes to pass a guy on and nothing less.

I don't know but these are SEALs do in sure there is a selection of books that you can find the answer in.

Don't know.  I can tell you that I was amazed watching how much ammo those guys burn through.  Had spare barrels like Santa has candy canes.  Impressive in every way.

I have heard farm workers go through about 500 a day when working in the field.

Just for warming up.

Just had my brother ask a buddy of his, a Senior Chief SEAL.

Doesn't remember for sure but ball parked it at 50-100k

Hope that helps you. Straight from someone who did it.
