I did an archive search and the last thread I could find was 2 years old---- http://www.ar15.com/forums/t_9_1/231991_Z_E_R_T_.html ---
That thread was apparently locked because the mod did not believe it to be legit. I attended Outbreak Omega 6 this past weekend in Morristown MN and attended the training hosted by Z.E.R.T. the day before the main event. Some of it is similar to what they provide in Las Vegas. My perspective was that this was legit solid training from legit instructors. Anyone living near Vegas may wish to check these guys out.
The group may use the "Zombie" metaphor as a hook to get people interested, but I can assure you that there were no Zombies mentioned during the training...

A couple of years ago, I helped a friend of mine teach a firearms safety class to a group of folks who were members of a Zombie-themed Facebook page. The friend is a police officer and firearms instructor, who I had taught to shoot when he was a teenager (teaching him to shoot was what motivated me to get my NRA Instructor credentials and get into teaching carry classes) and who was my own carry permit student as soon as he turned 21. He was/is a member of the Zombie-themed FB page and some of them had apparently got to discussing guns and learning to shoot, so he put together a class for them and volunteered his time. I offered to help and had a great time. The folks, both men and women, were eager to learn, acted safely and responsibly, and were very grateful that we gave up our time to spend with them.
It may have started with a semi-serious discussion on a bit of a goofy, fantasy page, but it turned a number of people into safe gun owners and made them that much more prepared to handle the real threats present in the world.
