THE IMAGE ABOVE IS A PAID ADVERTISEMENT you know most courses charge you over $200- $1000 bucks and dont really give you more than a few techniques that you will ever need anyway ,and if you dont practice tactics ,its like shooting what good is it (I was swat for several years ,and the bottom line is this, unless your spec ops in LE , you shoot on average of 4 times a year , how often do you think tactics are practiced?) Think im kidding ? Ask an LEO! |

You also get what you pay for sometimes. While we all would like things to be free, there are costs and expenses to putting on training. Many trainers love what they do, and the time on the range or in the classroom is not done solely to make money. But fuel and vehicles, lodging, insurance costs, and equipment needs and costs make classes something that many times has a need to charge for. Even Appleseed mentioned above charges for most men to attend.
Put it this way...while an LEO, would you attend training you were sent to by your department for free? What types of things are you looking at being focused on? If you're looking more at a shooting clinic with marksmanship fundamentals, then the above may be something to consider. Don't badmouth the military or LE guys teaching though. They teach various perspectives that may be needed by others as well. Maybe state your desires a bit more. What types of shooting are you looking to get more into. |

not bad mouthing the military or LEO , I ve spent enough time doing each profession , the difference with training in those two areas is simple , you have to train quantity over quality , obviously with so many people , nothing wrong with that my training in the Marines was outstanding ,my training in law enforcement was sufficient , but unless you intend on being SWAT or specil ops of some kind in law enforcement you wont be getting quality training , you will get your quarterly training , 50-100 rounds and qualify , it cost departments a ton of money to train , I get that , and most of my friends, we shot all the time , that cant be said of most officers ,because like you said "what is it you want and what are you looking for"? very true most officers are like everyone else they want to go home play with the kids and slump on the couch and vegetate!
Free classes , yeah I suppose you get what you pay for , whats gonna happen when the next revolution comes to our country ? there will be alot of sheep standing around begging for help , people that could have been participating in free training (not overthrowing the government , protecting our way of life) , but the almighty dollar steps in ,insurance , idiots cause that ,I understand lots of things get in the way , but lets face just because you were in the Air Force doesnt give the power to open up a school and tell the world how you fought the bad guys in Iraq and all and somehow your an expert ( same token , dot get me wrong more power to the guy if he can get people in there and pay good money to fight zombies)! LOL, just forget I said anything , it doesnt matter anyway , Im not going to any training , did that shit for years , I shot the police games, nra and was swat , my training is fine , I was just thinking maybe we could get the couch potatoes up ,but that aint gonna happen , OBAMA AND HOLDER ARE WINNING ! |

If you want the masses to have it for free, go ahead and take the initiative to start it. I have nothing against shooting training for new shooters. I just know I'm not in a position to do it non-compensated.

Really with all your training and experience, you ought to open up free classes and start teaching. Sounds like you have already done it all. Get up off your couch and get it going - or back under the bridge you go.

WELL if I had just finished my career and decided to become a couch potato I would but I never even to a vacation , I went right to work in my new career , because while I was waiting to retire I invested wisely and bought up alot of properties and now I am a landlord among other things , yea if I just did like most cops who just retire and sit on there duffs I would have the time to open a training facility , but I just dont have the time!
If you want you can come out from under the bridge yourself! |

Obviously you read your friends reply's, read mine , if I had the time I would , but I dont, I wouldnt anymore, I have grown disillusioned with the whole thing , I dont think people are interested in learning anything anymore , I think they are content to just let Obongo take there rights from them , you mention a simple process on these forums and what you get is is a bunch of cry babies , who spend thousands of dollars putting doo dads on there rifles , I wouldnt want back up from this group !
Nope I wont be volunteering anytime soon , and at my compound theres signs that state keep off the fence , for you couch potatoes who dont get out much dont worry , the government already owns your asses , the rest you , well you'll just have to test the water I guess................ |
