Alright, I'm going out on a limb posting such a newb question but here it goes anyway...

I think my grip is all jacked up. Not my physical grip, but the way I'm holding the pistol grip on my AR. I've searched and watched videos but nothing seems to cover this one question I have. With your trigger hand on the grip, are you using it to pull back against your shoulder, holding steady or using forward pressure and countering it with your forward hand? I've been pulling back slightly to hold the stock against my shoulder and because it's my right hand, believe that's why I'm coming off target and pulling right. I know the proper grip and stance make all the difference. Thanks for the help.

while grip and stance can have an effect, the most critical aspects are TRIGGER and SIGHTS (alighnment, etc)

grip the grip, get high on it; PRESS the trigger STRAIGHT BACK towards the rear (think of it as pressing the trigger towards the palm of your hand on the tang of the grip. do this while keeping your sights aligned on target, your focus on the front sight. 4 poitns of contact on the rifle at all times, cheek, forend, grip/stock, and shoulder. keep it all tight/firm as you shoot. depending on your "stance"/shooting postion, good rule of thumb is to lean your weight into your rifle (if shooting competition, say standing, most will lean away)
