Thinking of picking up a new ranch mini 14, and I'm curious if these fine new rifles are on the hitlist yet here in NY, and are soon to be banned like our beloved AR's ?

From my knowledge all non-tactical (no thumb whole included, i think) traditional wood stocked mini-14s with no "evil attachments" are good to go.

Also look into the ARES SCR, that is now legal as the alternative to the AR-15. Do some some digging into the ARES and you will understand why with that wonderful lower they have :) only downside is the bolt carry group is slightly different than the original AR-15's

I'm familiar with ARES system, but I love the looks and function of the mini hands down. Just don't want to waste my hard earned money on something that will soon be illegal to own.

If the New York Senate flips to Democrat control, and that is looking more likely with Republican's suddenly very toxic on Long Island due to all the corruption, then their wet dream piles of gun control bills that always get hung up in the Senate will  certainly have a much greater chance of passing.  I certainly see .50 caliber bans and gun storage requirements on the horizon.  I also wonder when they are going to push for mandatory FOID card's like MA, NJ and IL have.

 

2017 is going to be a stressful year indeed for firearm owners as well as the country in general.  Hillary as president, a Democrat controlled U.S. Senate, a reduced Republican majority in the House, a new liberal SCOTUS judge, a potentially even more "progressive" New York State government and the "progressives" nationwide will be having all their socialist dreams come true

One thing is for certain: which ever gets elected we're going to go hard to that direction...problem with hard turns is skidding out of control, and there are waay more than a few just begging for a reason to get bloody.

Sadly, I wouldn't be surprised behind that "we've got to take all the guns" scowl, they're cheering that cops were killed...ironically, it's those same cops that the anti's would send for confiscation. Maybe that's their plan: make laws/rules/regulations enough to bring out the  pitch forks & torches, send in the States paid security force they clash and cross eliminate, while the hipsters, Utopians, and professors sit back and point fingers at both sides in order to bolster their position of us  having to be removed from society so they can take over.  

We have seriously fucked up shit coming full steam for all sides: it promises to be one hell of a train wreck....better prepare.

I keep forgetting about microstamping and insurance requirements  Who will need to go after mini-14's with mandatory insurance set so high that nobody will be able to either find it or afford it?  Basically a defacto ban without having to name specific firearms.  And the 2nd Circus and SCOTUS will uphold it as constitutional because it is not really a "ban"

Buy a mini14 now.   Sell it in January for double what you paid.

Personally I think every NY gun owner should apply for an FFL.   Let the Feds get mad at NYS.
