Well its that time again where I decide to throw my job and wife and kids to the wind so I can go fishing
I won't be able to get out much in september but the plan right now is to take Oct 5th-9th off Join me if you want, I've got extra rods if you don't have one, waders are a must though. I'm not going to make grand promises for this season, the last two years were pretty lame on the river compared to previous years, so I'm hoping the salmon gods smile this year and open up the flood gates of fish. Any of you guys that want my number just message me, but I'm going to try and sneak up there most weekends in september, but it will likely be only half days. I may try to get out on monday too |

Salmon river in upstate, considered a world class river, chinook, coho and atlantic salmon, plus trophy brown trout and steelhead. Salmon run starts about now and burns out by the end of october, steelhead show up around late sep and last until late april/may. Last two years were not great but most years are fantastic fishing. |

Excellent, never realized that...I'm going away for a few weeks in september but I may be looking for tips next year.

I'm heading up on thursday for a quick day hit.. if they up the flow as they usually do this weekend, I will probably make a hit next wednesday or so also..

View Quote Early sep can be awesome, its supposed to stay fairly hot over the next week, we need a few good cold nights, as much as i dont want to see summer go. |

Was wondering when you were going to start this annual thread. Our annual pilgremidge will be late this year.
Family obligations (Weddings and such). I think were looking at Oct 8, 9 10 and 11. Thats way late for us. We normally dont fish the big river but concentrate on smaller tribs. Smaller tribs are really hit or miss with the run timing, but when were on Holy Hell do we catch a boatload. |

The sizes can sometimes be weird. Always try to get a size that is a bit big, since you might have layers on and it makes walking/climbing/sitting/falling in the river more comfortable My brother wears LL Bean ones, I think they can be had for your price range. I got an awesome deal on a pair of $400+ Orvis waders you don't need to drop that kind of money for the occasional fishing though. I would get breathable waders, unless you want to look like EdSr |

Get a pair of Hip boots and be done with it,
Just bring a change of clothes in case you go for a swim |

View Quote soooo you are going for the EdSr look |

View Quote Don't kid yourself (or us)... we all know you're about the "Reinforced neoprene knee pads for extra durability" |

And try not to blow up the porta potty in the lower fly zone parking lot again.....animals

I like neoprene waders because they add warmth in fall duck hunting.
Check Craigs List, might find something. Better try them before buy though, I've never had luck repairing waders. |
Thinking a couple garbage bags & duck tape ought to get me through a day or two....

I have to go to canada this weekend, but I might try to sneak down to the river on my way back.
Reports of a nice bag of cohos and kings in the estuary this morning
I'm debating tomorrow or Thursday... All depends on how work goes today
I'm going to try Thursday; putting in on Rte. 3 headed out to the Lake.
We rode down to Stony Creek and Sandy Creek along Rte. 3 and didn't see any Fish or anybody having caught any. |
I might try to slip down there on my way back from canada, might try to sneak out sunday morning too
