State Senator John L. Sampson was found guilty on Friday of six of nine charges, becoming the latest New York State lawmaker to face prison time for political corruption.

The most serious count that was convicted of, obstructing justice, carries a maximum sentence of 20 years.

Mr. Sampson, who previously served as the Democratic leader in the Senate, was also found guilty on two charges of making false statements. He will lose his seat in the Legislature as a result of the conviction.

His seat is permanently Democrat so it will not change the Senate makeup.

Even if a new Dem pops up, at least we are knocking down some of the leadership, and the outwardly corrupt.

A "greenhorn", democrat has to keep his nose clean compared to veteran politicians who have lots of pull behind the scenes.
