The verdict was a victory for Preet Bharara, the United States attorney for the Southern District of New York, who has brought a series of corruption cases against state lawmakers while criticizing the way business is done in Albany.

“Public corruption is a scourge,” Mr. Bharara said in a statement, adding that “lies to law enforcement make the job of fighting corruption doubly difficult.”

Cuomo is already saying he'll support a democrat / womens equality party for this seat. I'm shocked, absolutely shocked that Cuomo would step in to an area that he said he'd stay out of.

As far as I'm concerned the republicans in the senate have been playing with fire and are finally going to get burned. God help us if the democrats control 3 houses of government in NY (or is that 1 branch circumventing the other 2?).

We got that back in 2009 under Patterson and we all know how that worked out. Taxes raised, vehicle registration fees raised, driver licenses fees raised, new MTA payroll tax for downstate, new license plates, etc. It was a progressives orgy and with an even more radical governor and mayor of NYC, I think we can write what is left of this state off. Downstate will rule over everyone.
