Last time I was there they were blasting for the subway. Genesis abacab tour. I used to get hammered at Cassidys or the third base. Best wings were actually at Duffs or Rudy's Pump House. Im sure there are better places than those I used to frequent in 1981...

you should check out the Falls, its not that far away. There are some cruise nights both cars and bikes, in the burbs, some free concerts, down at the water front, where the Naval Park is, which is also pretty cool. I don't' recommend going off the beaten path in the city itself without some local knowledge and a gun. The burbs are ok, but there isn't' much to do. We mostly eat, drink and bitch about how much is sucks here, so there are a lot of bars and restaraunts. There is a minor league baseball team and the stadium is down town.

The reality is pretty much every local pizza and wing joint will make wings far superior to anything else around the country...I am partial to Duffs, as I have said...there is a new Duffs on Niagara Falls blvd and the intersection of Military Road in NF.... Pearl Street Brewery in downtown Buffalo is a good place to go for beer and pub grub. Oh, since you're in the Falls, go see Niagara Falls, it is pretty spectacular...although I think the Canadian side is better. The US Falls is called The Bridal Veil Falls, the Canadian side is The Horseshoe Falls...on the Canadian side you can get right to the edge and watch it drop, pretty wild... If you like to gamble, there is always the casino...both in the US and in Canada... If you are into architecture, you will be fascinated walking around downtown Buffalo, very cool buildings down there.... |

Allen Street for bars, Blue Monk if you are into GOOD beers, , Canalside if you are looking to people watch, free concerts there on Thursdays, free concerts at Artpark (30 min north of the city) on Tuesdays(Styx on the 19th). Mike A's for steak, SeaBar for sushi, Cantina Loco for Mexican,Duffs for wings.
If you are in the falls, bring your passport and hit the Canadian side of the falls (best peeler palaces anywhere), the Falls on the US side is a shithole once you leave the area around the actual falls, hit the Griffon Pub, great beers and really good food and its close to the base. |

The whole wing thing isn't up my alley unless they aren't hot. Stomach doesn't like it. Ulcer shit. The peeps I'll be with I'm sure will want to fuck up some wings. I know steak is a what's for dinner a couple nights. I will be with some pretty heavy drinkers as well. Avg age is mid 30s. Couple of beer snobs so they will want some local brew I'm sure. Thanks for all the info so far! We fly in sun afternoon and leave next sat. So Friday will be the last super sorta speak.

If you want steak one night, up in the Seneca Casino on the US side, there is a good steak house, but it is $$$...(IIRC it called The Western Door...)
Also in Buffalo itself you have EB Greens and the Buffalo Chophouse, both very good.,.... Wings...just get mild...Duffs have a step up, mild medium, which isn't very hot, but more flavor than mild...ya gotta at least try some real wings while you are here! The guys on base will be able to tell you / take you to Duffs for lunch probably (if your schedule has time for lunch) Another popular place with the guys on base is to go to Wegmans for lunch (local grocery store)....great subs, passable fresh sushi.... |

For the beer snobs hit up Alternative Brews on Sheridan in Amherst, you can also smoke cigars there, Pearl Street Brewery downtown, Pizza Plant, Cole's, Blue Monk, Coulter Bay, Allen St. Hardware, also, this weekend is the Lewiston Jazz fest, and there is a pub up there who's name escapes me that is supposed to be good. Good steaks are also had at Russels, but your looking at $50/person,

Stop at Buffalo Brew Pub, One of the best places in the region to eat wings (as mentioned get mild, they won't hurt too bad) and a fine craft brewery for the beer snobs as well.
It's a bit of a hike from you, about 25-30 minutes, but worth it!

Went to Judi's last night. Everyone was pleased. Today was Dominic's river bar or something like that. It was mediocre. Then to Marlboro Inn for after drinks, closes early on Mondays. Still got a beer though. We get 1.5 hrs for lunch and we are off at noon Thursday. Friday we have all day. What to do? Oh and off at 1600 every day.
