Well, pistol grip and detachable mag should make it an assault weapon. It's possible that they have it there for LEO and it's just not marked, or that they don't have a clue.
I suppose it's possible to fix the magazine in place, but doubt Gander would do that. |

This came up on the Saiga forums awhile ago, when people started seeing them in stores in NY.
What was brought up was this: Assault weapons does not include:
• any rifle, shotgun or pistol that: is manually operated by bolt, pump, lever or slide action; or has been rendered permanently inoperable; or • An antique firearm as defined under federal law • A semiautomatic rifle that cannot accept a detachable magazine that holds more than five rounds of ammunition; • A semiautomatic shotgun that cannot hold more than five rounds of ammunition in a fixed or detachable magazine; As far as factory mags go, there are nothing but 5 round mags, so theoretically, it "cannot hold more than 5 rounds". Sort of recently though, Firebird Precision came out with extensions that brought the factory mag capacity up to 10 rounds. Also, people are welding 2 factory mags together to make 10 rounders. This is just speculation, and no one knows for sure if the above exception is why they're here in NY or not. |

Gander has never been known for their attention to detail regarding AWB compliance.

Some people are just compelled to shoot themselves in the foot.
Unfortunately they also feel the need to blast away at everyone else around the as well. |
