THE IMAGE ABOVE IS A PAID ADVERTISEMENT Jamestown Police were called to an apartment on East 2nd Street around 9:30 a.m. Friday morning. Officers say the man who answered the door they later identified as 27-year-old Deion Carr of Buffalo gave them a false name. While speaking to Carr, officers could see a large assault rifle with an attached bayonet leaning against a wall.
Investigators believe the weapon recovered may be stolen and are working with ATFE agents to determine its origin. If anyone recognizes the weapon or has information that may lead to its owner, contact police at 483-7537. If you'd like to leave an anonymous tip, call 483-8477. pic at link |

So I wonder if the serial was removed, or if it was just never reported stolen and entered into NCIC.
I'm not familiar with SKS's. Don't they have the serial on numerous parts? |

Typically, SKSs are numbered on the receiver, receiver cover, magazine, bolt, and (on some rifles) stock. It sounds like the person who had it is a convict- which I would bet is the reason why they believe it was stolen. I like that presumption- because it disregards that he could have bought it FTF (or from a dealer before he became a bad apple). |

I know SOME of them are. "All" I couldn't tell you. But none of that really matters in this case.

If this rifle is recovered, I support putting it in the incinerator.
