Personally , I would like to slap those idiots over at Century arms SIDEWAYS for allowing such a molestation of a finite number of gorgeous kits to happen . As an " event " in the industry it should be seen for what it is . Unforgivable .

Of the copies that I have seen , ( along w/ the stock of 15 or 16 Century built m76s that I asked to have checked (and were all found to be " substandard " for my uses )w/ accuracy being to most important . The wholesaler that we tried to work with could not find ONE m76 in their stock that had straight sights ( or weren't bent in some other way .) Now . . I'm not saying that there isn't a good Century M76 out there , . . . . . . . but from my personal experience . . . the odds are NOT good . The receivers that they have are very good . Not cosmetically perfect in a M76 sort of way,
but able to be made straight , and functional . Not like the ORF debacle of fame . One of the ones that I saw had the forged receiver bent a few degrees , behind where the barrel presses into it . You could hold the rifle up and see the barrel make a left hand turn . This was sent out as a "new " rifle . I am still sick . |

FYI for builders:
Clearview Investments has barreled AMD-65 kits in stock and lots of barreled Vz.58 kits. Just keep in mind the Vz.58 is a challenging kit to build up and will require a lot of work. The AMD-65 are original 12.5" and will need barrel extensions. RGuns has barrel-less, unissued Russian Izhmash AK-47 kits that will work with Romanian barrels from APEX; also barrel-less Izhmash AK-74 kits, barrel-less Tula 5.45 krink kits (they sell 16" barrels for them too) and virgin M72 RPK kits in stock. Virgin RPK's require a lot of work as they've never been assembled. The trunnions haven't even been drilled for barrel pins. They have no serial numbers on any of the parts, just proof marks. Blackthorne/AKPartsKits has virgin Yugoslavian M85 5.56 krink kits and virgin M92 krink kits in stock for decent prices. Can't really build them in NY, they're valuable and cool to have in case you move to a state where SBR's can be owned. There are builders out there who will assemble your barrels and head space them ahead of time. |

I'm waiting on the next group of M90/95 full size 5.56 rifle kits that will probably never come. There are a few out there as kits but prices are rapidly approaching $1,000 on those. If I'm going to spend that much money I'll just buy a Bulgarian AKS74U kit. |

If anyone has a line on complete kit for Russian AK or Yugo M76, drop me a dime. |

You could always get the barrel installed in the kit before the build party, I think there are a few companies that can do this for you. |

Being the guy that I am, I will give you a chance to beat his offer You know, it's a CoC violation to discuss beer deals without involving the guy who goes by "thirsty." Take the 12 pack of Dogfish head 120 minute IPA. You will not regret it. Just do not start drinking it until after you are done with the build. It is 9.5% alcohol! Et Tu Vic? |

Being behind enemy lines what kits are available for US to build other than Romanian AK-47 kits?

ETA: In the instance of the AMD-65, the original barrel length is 12.5" and it has a side folding stock. In NY the remedy is to replace the folding stock with a fixed unit or welding the folder open, and the barrel can be legally lengthened with a number of aftermarket barrel extenders/muzzle brakes. You can have as many Krink kits as you like. They're not guns, just parts. |

The next best thing is the original Bulgarian chrome-lined barrels for sale on Atlantic Firearms, and the 5.45 AK kit of your choice whether a, Izhmash kit from RGuns or one of the plentiful Bulgarian kits. For an additional $50-75 you can have a builder assemble and head space the barrel beforehand. AK-Builder does a great job. If it were me that's the route I'd take for an AK-74. You guys are going to hate this, but back in the day the $99 barreled Romy G kits were the metric we used to measure the price of other kits back in 2006/2007. When looking at the Bulgarian AK-74 or Polish Wz.88 Tantal for instance, that both sold for around $200, we would exclaim, "$200 for a kit! Bullshit." |

Geneseo, Canandaigua, and Henrietta are the three closest towns that will have decent hotels. Geneseo has a new hotel that was built over the summer. Henrietta has a ton of them. Canandaigua has a few hotels but I don't know how they are. There isn't much in the way of hotels, etc. within 35 minutes + of my house. |
