Can't help you with housing, we always rent a condo or beach house.

Doc's under the JFK causeway is always good.

If you like boiled seafood the Crazy Cajun isn't too bad.

Seafood & Spaghetti Works is also good.

I go down there once or twice a year and stay at the Sand Castle condos.  It's cheaper than hotel and it is on the beach with a beach access road.

We just stayed at the Sand Castle Condominiums. Not cheap, but nice. Sunrise from the balcony. I guess sunsets if we had been on the other side of the building.

Oh, the island gets busy on the weekend.

No special dinner places, but Avery's for breakfast.

Spring break and summer time all hotels and condos jump up in price down there.  Sand Castle does have specials every so often if you are on their email list.  I like going down to the coast during the week when it's not so packed, and rates are usually lower during the week as well.

Butter Churn is good food, if not a romantic restaurant.  Out on the bypass in AP.

La Mirage is priced good and set up pretty nice.

Dune Crest is nice.  Cost a little more, but all units face the beach.

We have stayed at most of the places on Port A and they all are pretty much the same, just go with what you want to pay.

Great food at Port A   Shells

Normally don't stay in PA at all, we go to a place between Aransas Pass and Rockport called the "Lost Resort". We then launch the boat 5 minutes down the road at Conn Brown harbor without  dealing with all the Port A insanity.

It's one and two bedroom cabins with a kitchen and plenty of boat parking. Also cheaper than the Port A hotels. Last month the daily rate was $102 for a two bedroom but I think they are into summer rates now.

The best seafood We've found is at Shempy's in Rockport.

If we want to do the beach we catch the jetty boat over to St Joseph's island. Less stupidity and MUCH quieter.

Some buddies and me rented one there years ago.

It was nice.  Washer, dryer, kitchen stocked with everything need to cook with. We didn't cook at all.

Very nice swimming pool and a nice boardwalk going to beach.

No idea if ita changed.though.

I usually stay at the Best Western in Port A, but I suppose thats not romantic enough for an anniversary.

I've only been twice, but I liked eating at Fins Grill and MacDaddys Kitchen.

This place has great burgers but its in Rockport. Steerburger Facebook link as they dont have an actual website.

If Port A is booked and you are looking for something as a romantic getaway, you could always stay in Corpus at like the Omni hotel.  Think they have some sort of package for that. Get a room on an upper floor that looks out over the bay.  Small beach there in Corpus and not that far to drive over to Port A beach.

This place is awesome. Our favorite place to eat in Port A.

Usually, the wife and I will use HomeAway or AirBnB to book something.

Shells.  A little pricey, small location, but VERY good food.

Fins is a great burger and beer joint…get there about 6-630 and you can watch the charter boats bring in their catch.

The Black Marlin Grill at Palmillla Beach Golf course…I am friends with the head chef, Gail…she has been on Food Network multiple times and can make some seriously good eats.

I live on North Padre just up for road from y'all…have a great time and anniversary.

We ate at.
Doc's
Virginia's by the bay
Avery's
La Playa
Whataburger

All were great. Thanks for the tips and well wishes.

We liked where we stayed but we want to be closer to "town" next time.

What kind of fishing?  Took my son out on the Dolphin Docks 8 hour gulf trip last August and didn't have any luck.  But it was super windy the day before and half of that day and rough seas so they didn't take us out as far as normal.  I've been out in the Gulf twice before with no issues but that trip had me chumming from the back of the boat. My son said no more, only bay fishing going forward.

I  don't have a big offshore boat any more, then again I don't have the $500 gas bills either. I usually hit the reefs and rigs within 20 miles in a `17' Boston Whaler.
