No range at the base that you could use ?

Where to live is an issue at Hood. You might be better off school-wise to find a place in one of the surrounding towns such as Lampasas or Georgetown and commute. Austin Rifle Club shoots regular CMP matches, Several other ranges have regular service rifle and high-power as well, it really depends on how far you want to drive. Best of the West and Copperhead Creek are two very good ranges, BOTW is closer to Hood. There are several other ranges around but I do not have any experience with them. A couple are kind of sketchy. |

Belton and Salado have excellent schools and good places to grub.

Does the ARC shoot CMP out to 600 yards or is it all reduced?

I live off of 195 in Killeen. Not a bad area but stay the hell away from anything north of 190. Texas star shooting is a good range but doesn't have the distances you seek.
