They were very popular back in the day. The Texas Jam was always fun, best I remember . Nothing like the Cotton Bowl in 95°+ weather.

Local radio is chasing the Russ Martin Show these days.

Russ Martin show sucks.  I have no problem with him.  But if I want talk radio I will listen to AM.  Spin the records, rock me.  I am not gonna listen to your crappy humor.

And there are no good ROCK stations left.  92.5 goes soft most of the time.  100.3 is 80's pop.  There is nothing right now.  I plug in my phone a lot.  But I am old school, I like a little real interaction, some weather, some traffic.

Just so I'm understanding right, this will just be streamed online...not broadcasted FM?

Anymore, I tend to just bounce between 89.3 and 91.7. All the mainstream stations just wear out the same tracks over and over. 97.1 officially killed AC/DC and Nirvana for me.

Yep. The server crashed around 10 am this morning. Looks like they are too popular.

If you are north of McKinney try 102.5 KMAD. You will learn the playlist pretty quickly but it's different than anything currently playing in D/FW.

John Gorman, former program director for the legendary WMMS during it's heyday, tried (is still trying?) this with oWOW Cleveland. It's not going well.

I wish these guys the best of luck. What they're trying to do is really hard. The world is so different now.

George Gimarc, the founder of this little endeavor has said he is also looking into a reboot of KNUS ( the first "heavy" AOR station in Dallas) and some form of KLIF.  KLIF was a top 40 AM powerhouse in the 60's and early 70's ( A Gordon McClindon owned format) and then a talk leader in the 80's and 90's. Gimarc has thousands of hours of old Dallas radio history in his possession. I hope this format works for them. Lot's of the old jocks are involved with this, so we shall see.

If I want music, I play my own collection. Drive time is KRLD, and Russ Martin, unless Russ is on one of his bad show days. I don't like his "game shows", or chic show commentary.

Lost interest in RMS after the election. Their news guy is too leftist for this ol boy.

Cool, we all like different things.  Apparently you and I definitely like different things.  I prefer music on the radio.  When it's talk it's mostly 660.

*I listened to Russ Martin in the 90's when he played music after lunch time.  Then he evolved into a talker...not my thing, schtick on the radio.

Hmm.  Link shows a Kill Cliff ad banner.  Interesting.

Sad that you can listen to the modern classic rock stations for days and not hear most of the songs that I've heard here in the past hour.

Thanks for the virtual time machine!

Another of his I like, and from the description:

From the 1971 John Baldry album "It Ain't Easy." Side 1 was produced by Rod Stewart and side 2 by Elton John. This song was written by Rod
Stewart and Ronnie Wood. The band backing up Baldry on this recording
was Hookfoot, featuring Caleb Quaye on guitar and Roger Pope on drums.

Elton John and Rod Stewart had both worked with John Baldry back in the 60s, when Elton (Reg Dwight) was keyboardist in the band Bluesology. Elton made up his new name at that time taking the name "Elton" from Elton Dean, the sax player, and the name "John" from Long John Baldry!

Now back to the Zoo - thanks for that link.
