I am having a second body shop repair a job done by another body shop after hail damage. The hail damage repair tech removed the clear coat in many spots after doing a very good job on getting out the hail dings. Maybe they just skipped that part of the repair. I don't know. I will not post the name of the collision repair facility that did the first attempt for fear of legal troubles from their very large parent company.
I have had bad luck with collision/hail repair overall in the 35 years I have lived in Texas. Every car I have ever owned in those 35 years in the great state of Texas has been damaged by hail. My family has also had our share of collisions. I have dealt with many different types of shops, small to large. You are at the mercy of the people that are repairing your car. Lifetime warranties seem to get you better work. The 1 year warranty shops had given me problems. At the time, the companies with 1 year warranties attraction was "we pay your deductible". I was young, dumb, and full.... You don't see the gimmick ad of "we pay your deductible" on anything but glass repair/replacement these days.
