2 of the hundreds of cypress trees along this stretch remain standing...  For a visual on how high the water got there is debris in the oak tree top right..
(All of the lower branches on that oak were removed by the water.. )

I drove up Hwy 281 on my way home today from the Jourdanton area where we got a little rain, but most of it skirted around us going north.  Guadalupe there north of Spring Branch was way up, maybe 10' from the bridge.  Looks like they moved out as much stuff as they could from that little campground.  People pulled over on the side of the highway to get out and take pictures.  Blanco state Park looked destroyed. I heard they had the hwy closed there at some point yesterday.  River today was way up, but from the debris and uprooted tress I could tell it had been a lot higher than when I passed by.

Hard to get an official count on missing and unaccounted for...

More than half of the homes destroyed are rentals along the river and most all were rented for the holiday weekend..  Numbers of how many occupants vary widely..

But right now it looks like most all people are accounted for..

The helicopter traffic has increased over the last hour or so.. There are 3 present right now I can hear.. They seem to be focusing on a area about a mile south of the Fisher Store bridge's former location..

I don't have a radio or scanner to listen in or enough bandwidth to stream it.. Most cell service is down or overloaded, bank and ATM lines are down.

Power is up here.. We lost it for a few hours last night but it was back up when we woke up this morning. The storm here wasn't really that crazy. Lots of electrical but I only measured 2.93" of rain..

Mother nature is a bitch. Lake Travis is up 7 feet from 0000-1200. If that gives y'all any idea how much rain we got.

Cypress Creek was at around 12' of water over the bridge through town in the early morning. But it wasn't really a raging flow like the blanco... It was just backed up by the Blanco... Some shops flooded.

I wouldn't be surprised if curfew is placed... There is an amazing amount of valuable property strung along the river.... I saw 2 gun safes...

12 through Wimberley / cypress creek is open, but closed at the Blanco crossing.. That bridge was damaged but remained standing...

Can come in through Woodcreek, dripping springs or Blanco..

I'm glad you purchased high ground.  We've had a few "100 year" floods in that area the past 15 years which have devastated areas along the rivers.

Stay safe & don't try to cross running water.

I was just down there and the flooding has subsided but there is damage and debris everywhere!  A construction side was flooded and massive pipes from it are a mile down 35.  Massive rolled hay bales were all over the highway!

Did we just watch someone die?  Or were the occupants rescued later?

ETA: just googled it and it looks like the driver made it out ok.

It's the #1 flash flood zone in North America. Central Texas has a bunch of world records in rainfall rates in 48hrs or less.

The utilities maybe down in that area. So the best way to help right now is the Rd Cross, Salvation Army, and other such groups.

I'm still in for deliveries for today but need to know where and what.

Would also put insect repellant on the list of things they will need.
