They have used this airport for various exercises over the years. Several years ago they "captured" the airfield and set up a base camp. The Air Guard came in that night and pulled a mock bombing and strafing run on the camp and wiped them all out.
It has been great "bird" watching over the years watching the equipment move in and out. |

They're are having some kind of urban war training in a few months. I saw two marine helicopter attack wings fly over last week which was unusual..

Over by Airport Rd and Warehouse Rd is one of my flat cars. My boss might be out there sitting on said flat cars to watch some of the events. If he is there, ask to join him. His name is Jim.
Flat cars offer good cover and concealment.

Word this morning is they cancelled the jump. The plan now is to fly in and unload.
I would imagine the jump zone is a marsh with all the rain we have had. |

Yep the jump was canceled two C-130 and two C-17's showed up. The C-130's unloaded about 30 troops the C-17's offloaded some Humvees and some troops. The C-130's then took off I presume headed back to Little Rock. The C-17's from Altus taxied up the ramp and parked. The C17 is a fantastic plane, much bigger than the C130 and landed in about half the distance.
