Arfcom has a store but it is in Canton which is east of Dallas and is only open first trade days. here is a link to first monday trade days http://www.firstmondaycanton.com/ I have a wedding to attend in March but if your schedule works out and you want to drive the deuce I am about an hour south of Fort Worth. |

You could also try Bass Pro in Grapevine, GT distributors, and maybe DSG arms if you can get in. Cheaper than dirt in McKinney might be a good spot just to go see a decent selection.

You could go to SAWS near Mesquite. They have a decent bit of Class 3 stuff you can look at, but I do recommend going to GT Distributors.
I second going to Billy Bob's in the Stockyards. |

Thanks Check out Cabela's in Fort Worth. Its a huge outdoor/hunting retail store. Unique gun stores: Jackson Armory. It's the only one Iv'e been to in Dallas. Prices are HIGH, but that won't matter since you can't buy guns and some other stuff. They do have some militaria and rare books and such. The place is like a relic arms museum. There will probably be a lot of snobby soccer moms and 18-26 year old girls around. That area has a lot of wealthy people with a lot of luxury cars. Last time I was there, I kept getting a lot of stink eye towards me, even though I washed my car and bathed the day before . Just put on your best British Duke of Hereford ensemble or something and show them up |

More info on Billy Bob's

Mart That hotel you were looking at is down the road from the Ft Worth Stock Yard & Billy Bob's. In Dallas (I35E & Loop 12) you will find Gas Monkey which has a restaurant & music venue (attached to Studio Movie Grill across the street) which is about a mile from their actual garage (not sure you'll be able to get inside so you might want to contact them ahead of time). Between those places is a Speedzone with Zero Gravity behind it. |

I know what dr.pepper is but not shiner back. Whats that ? Atb. View Quote Shiner is a Texas beer. We drink almost everything with ice here so don't be expecting to get things room temperature. When you ask for water at a restaurant, they will bring you a glass with tap water (which is perfectly fine) but if you insist, they will provide bottle. Unlike Europeans, Americans usually don't drink carbonated water so be warned. Tex-Mex restaurants usually offer chips & salsa free of charge. Get plenty of Dollar bills because you are expected to TIP here. Generally, you should tip 15-25% on your sit down dinner bill (NO VAT so you don't get charged different prices for take-out or dine-in). If you walk up to a counter for service, generally tipping is optional (with exception of bars where the previous standard applies). Most restaurants will offer free refills for non alcoholic drinks and if you insist, they will serve you proper hot tea. There are some great breakfast places which you will have to experience - we go above your traditional English breakfast. Hopefully some guys will chime in on places to hit but the standard Southern breakfast restaurant would be the likes of Cracker Barrel (think GRAVY), then the typical basic breakfast place usually open 24 hours is IHOP, with the cheaper option of Waffle House. If you are in the Dallas area and want something different and higher scale, try Bread Winners. When driving down the highways, you'll see Whataburger fast food burger joints that are native of Texas (think McDonalds). It is illegal to gamble in Texas but if you have a free evening one night while in DFW, you can drive an extra hour to the Oklahoma border to enjoy an Indian casino. |

Billy Bob's has live bull riding on Friday and Saturday evenings. The stockyards are just next door and definitely worth seeing. There is a Riskeys BBQ in the stockyards. There may be other BBQ places that may or may not be better, but I love the all I can eat beef ribs. There is a daily cattle drive through the stockyards daily at 11:30 am and 4:00 pm. It is a lot tamer than you see in the movies- they try real hard to not stampede over the tourists. On weekends they have cowboys stationed throughout the stockyards on horseback. For some weird reason tourists want to pet the horses, and the Longhorn steer that may have a saddle on it. If I can I would be happy to meet you and show you some of the sights and explain the history. It depends on the day and time and what my wife has planned for me. In fact we may be able to get a few of the Ft. Worth crew out. |

There are many restaurants that have GIANT meals which include multiple add-on plates so OP could expect to order a breakfast and share (grits, hash browns, loaded omelets, and piles of gravy & sausage on giant buttermilk biscuits, and a side of pancakes). Also, I'd be remiss to not suggest menudo (if he really wants to experience the Mexican culture here). Breakfast drinks are usually refilled free & frequently with the exception of orange juice (and possibly hot tea). In the larger cities, brunches are popular on weekends (late breakfast combined with early lunch which tend to cater toward buffet crowd). OP, just remember that you will get twice the food for half the price you're accustomed to spending so there's a good chance that you might gain some weight if you enjoy eating. |
