Be prepared to wait in a line though. Cane Ross has great pizza if you like thin crust wood fire cooked. There is a fun Segway tour of Dallas my wife and I did last year. it was about $25 a person for a 3 hour tour. 6th Floor Museum is interesting. Crossroads Diner for breakfast is a must. |

Stockyards in Fort Worth just west of Dallas.
JFK Museum Palm Restaurant is a good steak. Be advised however.....Dallas is a gritty town. Don't expect a hip place like Austin. It's not downtown Detroit, but it's not exactly a tourist destination... |

Meddlesome Moth or The Common Table for good food and brews. Lots of other pubs with more basic pub grub - Flying Saucer, The Ginger Man, Old Monk, Trinity Hall, etc...
I also like the Truck Yard, but it's a little cool for that right now. Smoke has dang good BBQ, among many. Hard to narrow it down on TexMex. I like Javier's, but it's pricey. Primos on McKinney is good, but usually packed. Pepe's & Mito's in Deep Ellum is a favored lunch place. There are many others. It really depends on what part of Dallas you're going to be visiting. |
|
Bolsa in the Oak Cliff area is really good, oak cliff is pretty rough though
|
|
|
The "house boat" tours on the Trinity River are really cool at night. Best in the summer heat though.
|
|
I appreciate it guys, what about Tex-Mex?
and not like super fancy dishes, just like tamales, chimichangas, tacos, refried beans, etc |

2nd for Babe's. Hectic on weekends, expect a wait. Worth it.
Basic TexMex: Herrera's, Desperados, Enchilada's and Primo's (still). |

Hard to go wrong on Lower Greenville. The Truck Yard is just off of Lower Greenville, if the weather is nice. I'd do the Blue Goose Cantina for your Tex Mex. Tortillas made on the spot. Good margaritas. I really dig the Sour Cream Chicken Enchiladas. Fajitas are good too. The Dubliner across the street is a good place for a pint. I used to spend too much time at Stan's Blue Note. I'm older now and the crowd is a lot younger. |

Thanks for all the replies fellas.
What about gun ranges/stores? Any that are worth a visit? I don't know of any industry-type companies to visit in the Dallas area (LaRue for example is too far @ 3+ hours) |

Does Cheaper than Dirt have a show room, or just pictures of all the products they should have?
Sis is taking me to some place called Torchy's Tacos for lunch. And some place called HG Supply tonight. AAR to follow |

She has also lined up Fearings, Barter, the Grape, and Clark Food and Wine co. I told her I just want BBQ and TexMex, but girls will be girls - so I wouldn't be surprised if these are ritzy girly places. Isn't there some bad ass indoor range in Dallas? I think I saw it on an NRA women shooting video I sent the SO |

I eat at BG at least three times a month, but I prefer any of the following to Blue Goose: Luna de Noche Desperados in Richardson Hacienda Ranch Mesero Chuy's (for the Elvis Fried Chicken) Any mom & pop taqueria For tacos: Rusty Taco Torchy's And NEVER take anyone to Fuzzy Taco............it sucks like no taco has ever sucked before. Seriously, they put feta cheese on tacos, that's as bad as Velveeta on a Rueben. It ain't Christian. |

That was the implied requirement, so I answered with something on Lower Greenville. Yeah, most on your list are good (Chuy's? Really?)... Again, "Lower Greenville". While I love a good Taqueria, they scare most visitors. Fuel City has good Tacos. Looking forward to their store in Mesquite. I think Fuzzy Taco gets the name from stuff growing in their fridge. |

One by DFW airport and one out here in Garland on Lake Ray Hubbard. I like the Cabelas in Allen, but I've never been in there when it wasn't a total mass of humanity - that includes middle of the day during the week. |

I'm convinced there are so many good places to eat in the DFW area that even if I ate at a different place each day, it would take years to visit every place. Some great suggestions here.

FW seems to have so many more, and better, gun shops. |

Torchy's for tacos
Luna de Noche or Gloria's for Tex-Mex (Salvadoran) As far a gun shops, Jackson Armory is like a museum with everything from very collectible milsurps and shotguns to modern high end black rifles. Give them a call before you head over though. |
