You have until the 31st to vote early in person.

ETA: I voted straight Republican because fuck you Wendy Davis.

I'm always the first voter in my precinct on election day.  Right after I get the polling booths set up, the paperwork squared away and my clerks sworn in so they can verify my ID.

Dallas County, precinct 1048, come see me and vote!

Still researching the local stuff.

I (think) that even though I'm in Austin I'm not actually in one of the "10 districts" so I don't get to vote in the local stuff. Fucked up.

Yep...and I did not read anything on the ballot past the big "R" box.  This is the first time in years I have done that.  While I've always been a dedicated Republican, there is may be individual an candidate or two that are just too far off on specific issues. This year the bad taste for Obama's crew was just too strong.

Isn't there either a Federal or State law that employers are required to give employees two hours off to vote on Election days?

The way I understand it is that an employer can not penalize you for taking time to vote. They DO NOT have to provide you paid leave to vote. Some employers do give voting leave as a nice benefit. My wife works for TPWD and they get a couple hours of leave but it can only be used on the actual election day. It can not be used for early voting.

I work for the state and we have "Pre-Approved State Leave" which allows 2 hours of paid leave to go and vote.  This can be used for early voting or on election day.

Yep - back on the 24th.  R except for Bush.  Anyone else's ballot have a lot of uncontested local positions?

This is the first time I don't vote straight party ticket.
There were a lot of positions that didn't have a rep running only a dem or a lib and some only a dem.

So I voted for the lib in those cases and didn't vote in the ones with no opposition.

I voted R unless it was something I didn't know, then I skipped it.
