Probably just a ploy by Sriracha to get their local gov to understand what could happen if they don't back off, but it sure would be cool to have them local.  News tonight said Denton is where they were considering.

Yep, sure would.

Maruchan (the ramen noodle manufacturer) just opened a new 500,000 sq. ft. factory here in San Antonio.

According to a company spokesman, location was a key factor - Texas is their largest American consumer, and Mexico is also huge.

Also, Denton made them an offer back when the first shutdown occurred last year.  I sure hope they come to Denton!  More employment, and a better supply of Sriracha!

As a long-time connoisseur of Vietnamese food, this pleases me.

I mean, the stuff is great for Chinese and especially Southeast Asian cuisines. And I don't mean this just in an Americanized-Asian-buffet-full-of-fat-cultureless-whiteys context either. If you live in Houston and have spent time on Bellaire hunting down the places where the locals eat lunch, you'll find Sriracha there too.

What's so astounding though, is that Sriracha also works well with Tex-Mex and Pizza. It's as close to a global condiment as I can think of. Hell, I knew some guys who liked to put it in their beer, but I could never really get into that craziness. I only put Cajun Chef in my beer thank you very much!

And getting away with paying a highly motivated work force low wages. Headquarters for at&t just up and left San Antonio  a few years ago, citing that they couldn't attract the younger up and coming execs. But, we have plenty of lower wage workers wanting work.

I wish they'd make something spicy.  I did get some truly evil stuff from the Hmart....but I can't read the label so I don't know the name.

For JB - pretty much every grocery store carries it now.

I really like the habenero Tabasco. The standard one tastes too much like vinegar..

UT says what?

Not that peppers are expensive but it would be nice if local growers started growing the chillies to supply Sriracha, with any excess coming to me.

I have a bottle of that in the fridge, been there a year or so, didn't like
I make a better, hotter sauce with my home grown chili piqines, makes your eyes water when you open it.
