Academy screwed up their weekly flyer. Listed Remington 22 Thunderbolt 500 round pack at 1.79 insteed of 17.90. They are honoring the $1.79 price, limit one per customer.

Found Black Hills dealer in DFW. Prices seem pretty good and he'll order whatever you need. You can contact him at reedshootingsupplies@yahoo.com

Can you verify that the printed ad is for a 500 round box and not a 50 round box? Also, which Academy location did you go to?

ETA: I was informed by my local Academy that they do not sell 500 rd packs of Remington 22 Thunderbolt. I tried to explain to them that 10 x 50 rd packs = 500 rds, but to no avail.

ETA- It was the Round Rock location. I didn't see the flyer, just overheard a lady asking about it so I jumped on the deal too. It is a 500 round pack.

Yep, I can confirm the $1.79 price on .22 Thunderbolt ammo from Academy Sports! Mine cost a total of $1.85 at the store off I-30 and Las Vegas Trail in Ft. Worth. I got the last 10 boxes they had. Thanks ARFCOM for this smoking hot deal on such a cold ass day!

I showed the store clerk the store flyer and asked if they would sell me 10 packs of 50 round boxes sence they didn't have any 500 count boxes left, she had to call and ask the manager. When she got off the phone she said no, that the $1.79 price was their everyday price?!? I then asked to see the "Manager" myself . . . . . . . after about 5 min. the manager called back and said that there is an
e-mail about the ammo price and to ring up each box at 0.17 cents!!!

I did the exact same thing in Houston.

They had no idea there was an error... but they were hesitant at giving each box away at such a low price. I had to be firm, but I got each box at .18 cents.

Anyone know why Walmart scans your DL when you buy ammo?

Pure speculation but I would guess it has to do with verifying age. If you buy a weapon at Wal-Mart (where they still sell them), you have to go through a manager, fill out the 4473, etc. Your DL is written down on the 4473. Ammo - any knucklehead working the sporting goods section can sell it to you. Scanning your DL along with the cash register transaction is a "liability check-off" so Wal-Mart could prove (if they had to) that they didn't sell it to a minor.

They don't in the Austin walmart's. If they did, I'd quit buying ammo there.

I don't know if most 6.8 shooters already know this, but I just picked up 2 boxes of remington express 6.8 hollow points at the academy on I10 near gessner just inside the beltway (Houston). Its not exactly the highest quality ammo in the world but at $17.99 a box in a major retailer its the closest thing I have seen to range/plinking ammo thus far and they had quite a few left.

Cabelas in Buda had quite a bit of inventory and pretty good prices if you know what you're looking for.

Most notably, 9mm Remington UMC 250rd Value packs. Marked as 69.99, rang up at $59.99 ...pretty tough to beat, even on the 'net.

Had 3 boxes of MK262 seconds for $48.99 too.

Dick's in Harker Heights has Reminton UMC 55gr FMJ for $6.99 through the 7th. Not a bad retail price for brass ammo.

Wal-Mart in New Braunfels had a shit load of .40 S&W WWB range packs in stock as of this afternoon. Can't remember the price, but when I mentioned to the sporting goods guy that they were cheaper than the 4 other stores I had been in this week he said they hadn't done their price changes yet. I know on WWB 45acp 100 round range boxes most stores went up $2/box at the first of this month. I got the last box of 45acp they had in stock unfortunately.

Went by one of the local Wal Marts and they had WWB 9mm 19.97 for 100 rounds. Not sure if it is that price at all stores since the one closest to my house has it for a higher price.

That's the usual price for WWB 9mm, at least in Austin.

Appears Wal-Mart stores are varying on their ammo prices much more than normal lately. I'm in and out of stores all over central/south Texas for work so I usually take a peak while there, mostly for 45acp. Most stores have gone up from $32.97 for WWB 100rnd packs to $34.97, but I found the store in Buda actually had them for $31.97 today. Then later in the day I was at the Bastrop store and they had the same WWB for $36.97!

Anyone know where I can get some 60-75 grain .223 in the DFW area? Or if anyone knows of any deals online that would be good too.

Thanks!

Not yet - They just have their $4.99/box Federal/Winchester, and $6.39/box Remington Heavy Dove, which are everyday prices. I'm hoping the sale is in the new ad, this weekend.
Sorry about the mayonnaise, guys.
