Interested in learning about area gun ranges, gun clubs and local gun shops.  Moving from SE MO to take new job.

Any other information would be appreciated.

Stickies on items relevant to your interests are just above your post:

Ranges, clubs, other assorted whatnot

Kansas NFA stickie, the state is pretty NFA friendly:

NFA whatnot

One not included in the ranges and clubs list is Spearpoint Ranch up NW of Salina, they hold precision rifle matches and some carbean stuff and I am told run a good program:

Spearpoint

We always went down to this range when I went to school in Salina. It is a no frills, un-staffed, 100 yard range. We went there a LOT, but hardly ever ran into other people there. Its a great place to have some fun without having to worry about range fees or overbearing rules.

ETA: No gun shops to note in Salina that I remember, but the Treasure Chest in McPherson (about 30? minutes south of Salina) has a pretty good reputation.

Quivira gun club has an indoor range on the South end of the airport. It's a cardlock operation and can shoot there 24/7. Don Brown is an unsurpervised 100 yrd outdoor range almost to Mcpherson. Usually its quiet but the place draws idiots who think the 10 Commandments of gun safety are more like suggestions. The indoor range in McPherson is a mixed bag. Guy who owns it is okay but have been told by several that one employee (his son?) is a real douche and drives more customers away then brings in. YMMV.

Plenty of shooting activity in the area, just be advised that the area between McPherson and Wichita is heavily Mennonite/Amish and they hold sway over the local politics. Unless you're on their good side getting things done, even on your own property, can be difficult.
