I'd like to copy an ARFCOM activity that exists in other areas of the forum: the Traveling Treasure Chest of Interesting Odds & Ends. Each participating SC ARFCOMmer would mail the USPS medium-sized Priority Mail flat-rate box filled with interesting stuff to the next participant on the list. Upon receipt, the recipient can examine the items, keep any they liked, put new items in the box and simply send the whole thing off to the next person. Contents could include things like spare gun parts, reloading supplies, books, DVDs, CDs, beer coasters, keyrings, coffee mugs, small components or hardware, yard-sale hand tools, t-shirts, creative drawings, baseball caps, or a myriad of other inexpensive items. Also included would be a little log-book showing each person who had received the box, and then sent it off to someone else –– a little like geo-caching, except the cache travels to you, instead of the other way around.
The only stipulation is that the recipient must take a photo of the contents and post it, along with a comment about the contents and what was added, on this thread. Then, within a week, they send the box, filled with their choice of contents, to the next person in line. Obviously, no foodstuffs, liquids, flammables, perishables, illicit or illegal items may be sent. Keep in mind that this box could be opened by a spouse, child, employer, or Postal Inspector. Still, it should be a pleasant surprise to receive a mystery box from a fellow ARFCOMmer with a good book to read, some good music to listen to, and some unique items which provoke a hearty laugh or an interesting discussion. Everyone has cool stuff they don't use anymore, or good books they'll never read yet again. Why not pass them along to someone else? The object in all of this is to promote camaraderie and have fun, and possibly start some new friendships in the SC HTF. So here's how it works: - People who wish to participate simply need to make the request in this thread. Even a simple, "I'm in!" is sufficient. This post will serve as a record of who signed up. Once you request in, you will be added to the bottom of the list. - The size of the box you will receive and mail is a USPS 11 x 8.75 x 6 Priority Mail medium flat-rate box. The current cost to ship the box is about $11 - 12. - Once you receive the box, open your surprise package and post a picture or two, along with your comments. After no more than a week, you should have mailed your box of odds and ends, perhaps including a letter about the contents, to the next person on the list. - It's up to YOU, the sender, to IM the next recipient and obtain their actual mailing information. We will not keep a record of the real names or addresses of anyone who participates. This way, potentially sensitive information is limited to just two people –– the one who last sent the box, and the most recent recipient. - This activity is limited to SC HTF only. The box may not leave SC. - Keep things moving along at a reasonable pace. If you know you won't be able to receive the package, or mail it out on a timely basis, let people know so that we can juggle the order and keep things rolling. UPDATE 2/23/17 - I get it, life gets in the way, we forget, etc. However, if you hold the box more than 3 weeks, you will be removed from the list. - If you need to be skipped or removed, say so. If skipped, you will get the box the next go around. Who's in? -----Master List of Participants as of 05//2017----- Heelsfan78 - RECEIVED Arkady - RECEIVED Mangyrat - RECEIVED D16Man - RECEIVED DHayden81 - no reply EricS - RECEIVED Brohawk RoccoOnFire BillyTehBob Red_SC Exeter5 pbol53 pdimaio silverzpeed saturnsport8k BigBadWolf11B dalesimpson goer001 StylesBitchley dayman --- |

Be forewarned - if my spousal unit opens a package with something inappropriate in it, the sender will get a return gift. I have a dog that is fed twice a day.

Participated in a similar thing with a cigar forum (ASC). The person who got the "mystery box" before me invariably got cool smokes like Padrons, Perdomo, Fuentes, possibly the odd ISOM. What did they send me? A bunch of fucking dog rockets from Thompson Cigar Co.

Only three days left till launch! Anyone else getting in on this before the initial ship date?

So I got the box today...pics coming.
USPS gal had to deliver it to the door because it was so heavy..... |

ETA: I hope the box isn't that full when it gets here. I have a lot of stuff I don't need that I'm too lazy to sell. |

Got the box. Should get it back to TheBandito on monday.
That's a lot of brass. Also, I see that d16man still thinks that my username is two words |

I didn't forget, so much as have my radiator explode on the way to work.
Anyone up for a radiator-swapping party at the British Bulldog? |

Haven't heard back from TheBandito yet, so I just pinged him again. The box is in a holding pattern right now.
|
|
TheBandito said to skip him, so I'll be shipping the box out to heelsfan78 tomorrow afternoon.

"I got a set of Geissele springs!" "I got a rear sight!" "I got a rock." https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5tIhwITwhSg |

I threw something in there with you in mind, Ponti, based on your earlier posts about a cigar pass.
