From the quick research I have done, there is NO rights whatsoever.  Is this correct?

Illinois at least lets out of state holders carry IN THEIR CAR.

Any advise?

No reciprocity, but you can have an unloaded pistol in the car during the day. It must not be concealed and must be visible by a passerby. At night, it must be locked in the trunk unloaded.

There are other restrictions, but I can't remember the details, such as an hour before sunset. I can find a link to the laws of you like.

Thank you.  The before/after sunset is a little strange.  And the "in plain sight".
