So...I want to take the kids to DC and see the sites. We probably will go the week before Easter. Where is there a safe, nice (not too nice) place to stay? I don't mind driving a little to get from the hotel to the sites. I figured you guys would be the experts.

Appreciate any and all help.

Maybe this one

Also look at National Harbor for deals

Whatever you do, stay out of Northeast, Southeast, & Southwest

Although, They just put up a new Hyatt in SW across the street from me that may be nice

I'd stay in Crystal City, VA (in Arlington, VA) or Alexandria, VA and metro in.  You can fly in and out of National Airport (located in Arlington, about 2 miles outside of Alexandria) and take the metro into the city.  The hotels are likely to be a good bit cheaper, and if you plan to bring a firearm, it's legal in VA.

Also, you'll probably get more replies in the VA hometown forum.  There's a ton of us that live in Northern VA near DC and many of us that travel there on a daily basis.
