Hiking through some of the cliff creek Fire.

Crazy to see black forests. Trees and ground completely black.

Some of the trees had half the trunk burned away and looked like you could push them over. 80-90 foot trees.

Youngest son's first elk.

I've killed plenty of big bulls in my lifetime of hunting, and had plenty of successful stalks, but this was more thrilling.

After having a bull run in front of us twice while we waited in a saddle, we decided to creep up a very steep, north facing, heavy timber peak.  Almost to the top, somehow, we didn't spook a herd that was working it's way towards us, down the mountain.  My son had to take a snap shot at about 30yrds, waiting for bulls and calves to clear behind this cow.

Shot went clean through, she ran up the mountain with the herd, stopped several times as we tried to get a second shot, then headed back down, and collapsed about 10yrds from where my son pulled the trigger.

Rifle is a Rem 700, .243.  His grandpa gave it to him when he was 12.

Getting her out was more work than I enjoy.

Took a new gun out to do a little break-in. The 22TCM had two failure to extract in the first 50rnds, after that the remaining 50 rounds went off without a hitch. 100rnds of 9mm went smoothly.

You're going to have to point me in the direction of the material you are using to tie on for camo.

Not that I'm going to copy you or anything......  First it was paint, now fabric........    You are ruining all my black rifles...

Hunting on the elk refuge the next few days. Saw three really nice bulls go through but it's cow/calf only.

Sleeping Indian

Where the bulls went through

Tetons

Found a couple sheds. You can't take them off the refuge but snapped a pic. Size 13 boot.

Sparks556 and I helped a brother say goodbye to his brother and our friend last night.

Viking funeral pyre.  It was a good celebration and the way I'd want to go out.

Couple weeks ago on my bday, made a thread in GD but we'll keep this going.

It wasn't as the week before when my buddy shot his elk. Was -23, we were shoving our hands into the cavity to warm them up. He got slight frost burn on the tips of a couple fingers.

Morning ride was cold but beautiful.   Had to hunt for a road that wasn't covered in ice and snow.

My wife, youngest son and I hiked down to The Sinks below our cabin Sat.  The creek dissaprears into the limestone completely, then resurfaces down the canyon about a mile.

There are several pretty big caves in the dry portion, and air cold enough for a  refrigerator rushes put of it.  On a hot day, it is a crazy feeling.

I got claustrophobic just looking into one of the larger caves.  Nope, nope, nope.

The water was too high to get up further into the area, and the rasberrys weren't even close to ready.

Had both my boys up at the cabin at the same time in a long while.  Could he the last time for a while as both are now off to college again.

We had a blast.  We explored down some mountain goat type geography to see the bottom of the Sinks, where the water re-emerges fron the canyon wall.  Been going up here for 25yrs and I've never been down there.  It's follow the elk trails to the bottom, then crawl around boulders to get to the site.

Pretty incredible.  We've been told you can get in the water and crawl through to a large chamber inside, but I'm not fucking crazy, and only one of my boys thinks thats a good idea.  Luckily for him, he's the smallest of the three of us and we weren't going to let him try.

So I snapped some on turkey day as my brother in law and I ran some guns and showed some steal who was boss.... Hopefully this little pic dump will resurrect the Wyoming post up your awesome Thread!!! And GO!....

There were apparently two crazy guys spotted outside of Powell this afternoon....riding around in Sparks556's 5ton, and wearing snow camo.

The looks we got at Maverick fueling up...

Anyway, an awesome afternoon hike in the snow.
