I have a friend who is needs some advice and I am hoping you all can help out. He's driving through Canada to go hunting with a friend in Alaska. He's got a Sig 716, which is on the restricted firearms list and he want's to use that rifle. So here are the questions...

1. Can he take that rifle through Canada?

2. If he can, does he need a permit or what permit does he need and what is the process?

3. Is there anything he needs to do with the rifle before he gets to and at the border?

4. What should he not do, with it while driving it through Canada?

5. Last question, mag restrictions for it?

Thanks. I know he's going to appreciate any advice/help. He's called the RCMP and didn't get a whole lot of help there. He doesn't want to have a problem and doesn't want to break any Canadian laws.

Thank you.

The other option is sent it to a FFL in Alaska and back, might be less of a headache.
